Hi,

I've been reading a lot about FloHost.com, but seems some varies (as the dates are old)

Recently, has anyone been using them? Good or bad? Uptime / Support decent? Lines quick? Shared and Reselling packages solid ...?

Thanks.

and new

Nothing varying here, same bs different day.

It seems it's the same anywhere I've been. I simply cannot afford (money, or client wise) to keep moving comapnies every 15-30 days.

It also seems the only way to get a good deal is by spending $200-500 a month on some high tech super server that costs $180hr for support, which is far from my budget :(

I guess it's back to the request forums.

What are you looking for? a dedicated server or a VH account?

BTW, does it sound to you "what you get its what you pay for" ?
:D

Last I checked, $60-100 a month should buy more then 1-15 system crashes a day and no support :(

I'm looking for a reseller package with high bandwidth, or if it's too much, a smaller resller, and a shared account with high bandwidth.

My clients don't use a lot, it's one of my personal sites that is the problem, it uses 40+ gigs a month, sometimes 80.

More so then speed (I don't care if cable users can only download at 80KB/s not 200KB/s) I need one that will be up atleast 29 days out of the month, not 1 out of 30, heh.

Seems everyone I go, most from this board, can't run a company for crap. It also seems everyone is just in it to make a quick buck, however fail to realize the responsability behind it. Perhaps them getting to hide behind their computer thinks that makes it okay to rip people off, or make empty promises and agreements.

If I could afford my own box, I can assure you I would do it simply becaue they're obviously the most stable. Putting up with all the BS 90% of the companies put you through, don't help build up your clients/profits enough to buy one though.

Perhaps optimizing, or making that 40 gig site make money might be the thing to do.

That would have to be a highly inefficient site to be pulling 40 gigs, or server media files.

I don't serve media files, it's all source code .zips and screenshot galleries.

Ever been to planetsourcecode.com? Something like so, only extremly more interactive.

I am _trying_ to find some paybanner place but none will take me. The ones I have found (compactbanner.com, some others) said I cheated because they ended up oweing me $80 the first week....

It does make money, sorta, I currently advertise my hosting company on it ... and it gets me a lot of clients.

Have you considered stepping up to a dedicated server? Most budget one come with 300GB + bandwidth these days. You can host your site and clients and you will have full control and other users won't take up all the CPU usage like on shared hosting ;)

Yes, he did PM me. The door to my bedroom broke (no lie) and I was fixing it, maybe he replied to the thread thinking I was ignoring him.

Back to the subject; FloHost.com I have been talking to Travis on MSN, and browsing their support boards/etc. I'm aware of the EARHost.com thing he's doing, but I will say this, he did send me the debt Tim owes me, and he doesn't know me at all, that was very generous of him. I find that assuring in choosing my next provider ...

I was also given a propisition to a 30 day trial, where I don't pay till the end (to monitor problems, ping times, loads, etc) which is also something not many people do, maybe a 7 day, but 30? I don't see it.

I'm also going to apologize for this thread turning some what into a 'Request' post, that wasn't my intentions at all.

Thanks for all the replies, they're greatly appreciated.

The question should be:

"How long did it take for you laywers to get the server from him"

;)

you've also got two posts, so unless you can prove why it's great, how long you've been with FloHost, you should keep those itchy fingers away from the keyboard. Besides FloHost's ded server service was only recently launched. You made a decision that they are great in one week only?

Forgive me if I'm mistaken and that your ONLY purpose for posting the utter garbage that you did was merely to provocate a flame. If that's what you were trying to achieve then "Mission Accomplished"

you've also got two posts

post count has nothing to do with anything - it just gives us a reason to come back to WHT :)

If someone with two posts thinks it's ok to proclaim how great a service is without giving any further details, than maybe we DON'T want them to come back to WHT again :D

What is wrong with you people? I like the service, and it works great for me. You guys just flame anything you find possible to do so.

just for the record i didn't flame you...

...but my question is still unanswered, how long have you had the server? and SWR's question: do u have a URL of a site hosted on it?

experience has shown that members get flamed for the following reasons:

1)they lie
2)they dont answer questions
3)they attempt to test the experienced members intelligence
4)they attempt to circumvent the forum guidelines

if you dont do any of the above, then you dont get flamed...very simple really.

when it comes to earhost/timmy/jimmy all trust is lost

and with timmy's name/email appearing in the whois, it makes flohost look bad also,

it may not be the best choice for flohost if travis tries to fix up earhosts name (which is ruined for a long time)

proof(of the name being ruined forever): if you know about guadalupe's shang say yes i do (i'll explain after a couple people remember)

Brave move in picking up the dead carcus of earhost and trying to revive it. I didn't think they had servers still operating. Thought they were all shutdown for non-payment.

i agree its not smart if i were him i wouldn'nt consider buying earhost, but travis wants to revive it so let the him try

I just don't understand, why would you like to revive it.

Is it the name so good...

I just cannot not figure it out.

I must be missing something here
