Hi,

Has anyone got any comments about CalPOP (www.calpop.com)? I did a search on this forum and could not find anyone talking about them.

Anyone here using their services, especially their dedicated server's? How do you rate them?

Through Psoft.net. They are a reseller for H-Sphere control panel.

http://www.calpop.com/network.html

CalPOP's Network has been rated the #1 rated backbone in the world -— two years and counting — according to Keynote Systems, an independent ISP auditor, as reported in Boardwatch Magazine's Year 2000 Directory of Internet Service Providers. To attain this status, our backbone surpassed 36 other service providers including AT&T, UUnet, PSINet, Sprint, Exodus and Digex.

I have root to a server in the CalPOP datacenter. Based on what I've read here in WHT, their network ranks right up there with FDC Servers' :o

Well they very well could be a very good and reputable company, but since they (from what I can see) do not post here, many at this board have not heard of them and therefore will not be able to really provide much information on them.

I do see a lot of them on altavista when searching under hosting and such, so they may very well be a good company :).

Almost as often as not outgoing traceroutes get from 30 ms to occasionally over 100 ms just trying to get out of the datacenter. That, of course, is when the server does respond. The most memorable outage was only about an hour long. The cause? Someone tripped over a cable
