new here, hi...

i'm getting really annoyed with my host, too much downtime and incovenience, so i decided to move. the only problem is trying to find a uk based host that doesn't cost the earth.

i think i've found one at last, it's one of the ones i originally considered, but i rejected it because it's hosted on windows 2000 servers and the one i'm currently on is unix.

so if anyone could maybe give me some pointers in the form of "what's the practical difference between w2k and unix?" and "is there any reason why all the cgi programs currently runnning on the unix server can't be transferred directly to the w2k server with no problems?"

but most importantly, "is w2k hosting any good and should i go for this or keep looking for a unix server?"

hope someone can help me... :)

I hope this link will help you to find out the difference between NT and Unix. http://www.bsdi.com/info/ntvsunix

As per my experience with window2000 server - they are quite reliable and fast.
