I'd like to get a domain and a web hosting solution that is not associated with my name.
What are the options? Are the whois privacy offered by registrars/hosts like godaddy reliable?
The web site I intend to set up is entirely for fun, non-commercial, non-political, none-copyright-infringing, SFW, harmless - but it may get the attention from more than a handful people, and it that case, I do not want *any* to (easily ) discover my relation to the site.
This is a side project with limited/none commercial potetial, so I am not concerned with losing the domain/disputes etc
Thanks for your help!

If you pay by card, they may require confirmation of your personal information.

You can't really. Due to fraud checks, they would need to know who you are. You can get whois protection on the domain, but that's about it. If you use false information and you're caught, you'd have the domain/hosting possibly revoked, to mention it is illegal too.

OK, but I don't need anonymity w/the host, as long as I know that my identity is not revealed at the first enquiry. So, how hard or easy is it to find the name between a site/domain registered with whois by proxy? Thanks for your insight!

You can still get the information but it's harder than just doing a whois on the domain. If you get Whois protection then that's as far as you can hide it.

Dynash,
How can someone still get the information?
