View Full Version : goddady vs networksolutions
freeflyer 02-05-2009, 03:44 PM Hi all,
Maybe this is not the right forum but I am sure you might find this interesting.
Goddady increased its fees while networksolutions lowered them
SenseiSteve 02-05-2009, 03:57 PM Maybe to pay for that SuperBowl ad.
freeflyer 02-05-2009, 04:05 PM Maybe to pay for that SuperBowl ad.
I was about not to post it :)
My registrar is godaddy and I got an email from them two days ago, offering a discount. I were about to use it but found they haved increased their fees so that there were no discount.
And two days later (today) I get an email from networksolutions with a nice offer.
Any input would be interesting :)
everity 02-05-2009, 05:01 PM NetSol was already one of the most expensive registrars out there.
peter_anderson 02-05-2009, 05:30 PM Why would you want to use NetSol?
You could get around 3 domains for 1 at NetSol.

Sorry, I do not understand: 3 domains for the price of one?

Yes. How so they lower their fees so much? Is there any thing wrong? (besides economy ;) )
peter_anderson 02-05-2009, 05:51 PM Sorry, I do not understand: 3 domains for the price of one?
1 domain at NetSol = $35
1 domain eleswhere = $10
3 domains at NetSol = $105
3 domains elsewhere = $30
bager 02-05-2009, 05:53 PM How much is the price for domains at netsol? I see that is 34.99 per year.

This thread is because netsol is charging just $9.99 for any domain while Godaddy charges $14.99 for an .org domain
edited to add, and $9.99 for a .com domain, and $12.99 for a .net domain, etc

It was. Now it is $9.99
dreamcodedesign 02-05-2009, 06:19 PM Where are you seeing the $9.99 price? I'm seeing them as $35 here in the US. Pleaes see screenshot of prices attached.

Here it goes
7773737 02-05-2009, 06:26 PM Its only 9.99 if you buy for 100 years. So thats basically paying a grand to get a decent domain price
ldcdc 02-05-2009, 06:26 PM Well, it's 9.99 if you register for 100 years. :P
Even if they would lower the yearly price significantly, they certainly have or could the margin to allow for such. so many registrars are able to make ends meet at $10 for a yearly registration. I don't see why they couldn't get closer to that, if they really wanted to.

:D I am glad I asked. I promise: I select a domain early in the morning and followed the purchase procedure to be sure. Selected 5 years and its value was almost $50
Anyway they did not mention 100 years when they sent their newsletter! LOL. I will keep my domains with godaddy
It seems NetSol is desperate! :D
freeflyer 02-05-2009, 06:52 PM This is the other part of their offer. They say transfer for $9.99
anon-e-mouse 02-05-2009, 06:54 PM Hi all,

Moved to domain discussions.
freeflyer 02-05-2009, 06:56 PM Moved to domain discussions.
Thank you!
freeflyer 02-05-2009, 07:17 PM I finally found out what is going on. It is valid offer. It is just they sent a special link to me.
It has also another link to send it to friends but I do not know if I am allowed to post it here and I do not know if networksolutions allows me to publish it.
Thank you NetworkSolutions! :)
nameslave 02-05-2009, 08:50 PM FYI: Network Solutions offers their Gold VIP customers $7.95 (per year, not just for the first year) for transfer and as low as $11.99 (again, per year) for new registration.
freeflyer 02-06-2009, 12:36 PM Update: While it was a valid offer it has hidden costs, for instance $12/yr for domain forwarding (?!) . You can easily do it for free, from your registrar or from your host.
Thanks but I will keep my domain with godaddy :)
Mike - Limestone 02-06-2009, 12:46 PM 100 years? That is quite a long registration time. :-P

You're not guaranteed it will be regged for 100 years - they just renew every 10 years. So, if NetSol closed, the company who took it over would not renew it for the rest of the years for free.
