Thank you ffeingol 09-19-2002, 12:58 PM RAID-1 is disk mirroring. Here are a couple of links with RAID definitions: http://www.solumedia.com/raidinfo.htm http://www.land-5.com/white_papers5.htm Frank andy18 09-19-2002, 08:29 PM thanks for the link... the explanation is good enough..:D apollo 09-21-2002, 05:50 AM what you are exactly looking for? There are different raid configurations and each has it's own benefits.... If Raid-1 or Raid-10 works for your friend, it doesn't mean it will work for you :) chuckt101 09-21-2002, 12:30 PM Originally posted by apollo what you are exactly looking for? For large and mission-critical database servers Raid-0 works well (if you need redundancy, then Raid-10)... For other applications, it depends what you intend to do.... high-speed write or high-speed-read... Read: http://storagereview.com/guide2000/ref/hdd/perf/raid/index.html apollo 09-23-2002, 06:22 AM Yes, in terms of read/write SPEED. Not redundancy -- as I said you will need RAID-10 if you need redundancy |
