So here is the thing... I know quite a bit about hosting, html, designing and so on BUT am a complete noob when it comes to participating at forums.. I am a member at a forum or two but do not post much.
I am a well behaved person but would require help from time to time.. I have read the guidelines so I know what to do and what NOT to do..

One question... Do I have to manually subscribe to the forums I want an email notification for...? Or is there a magic button to help me...

In edit options
Default Thread Subscription Mode When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/subscription.php), with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.
