I got at least three e-mails from people in Russia. I don't live in Russia and I don't speak Russian. I use webmail so at first it looked like I had gotten a bunch of ????? ??? ?????, but when I checked the mail was filled with strange caracters. I don't have support for the cyrillic alphabet, so that's why.
My question... Why spam in a language I don't know? If they found my address somewhere they should have seen that it's in english.
Second question... Why´is it called spam in the first place?

There is some debate about the source of the term, but the generally accepted version is that it comes from the Monty Python song, "Spam spam spam spam, spam spam spam spam, lovely spam, wonderful spam…" Like the song, spam is an endless repetition of worthless text. Another school of thought maintains that it comes from the computer group lab at the University of Southern California who gave it the name because it has many of the same characteristics as the lunchmeat Spam:

Those are not spams. Those are viruses you get with various names. Spammers will not send the mail in the language you dont understand.
:spam:

I could see that the messages in russian were some kind of spam, because there were links in them, and some numbers, and I knew the text said something about it. Don't know if it were for hosting, warez or porn though.

Is that so? So how I come I get Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French just to name a few. Viruses don't have URLs to visit, or affiliate links
