Hi, i'm looking for a new host for one of my websites. Right now i'm hosting my site with Site5.com. i love every single thing about them, except they seem to experience a lot of downtime, a far cry from the guaranteed 99.5% uptime. But i guess you get what you pay for, so this time i'm willing to spend a little more money.

My basic needs are:
extreme reliability (this is most important)
maximum $40/month
300 MB minimum space
20 GB tranfer, at least
mysql/php
lots of email accounts
free subdomains
preferably some sort of web control pannel
RealAudio/Video server (this would be a nice plus)

right now i'm leaning toward http://www.mediatemple.net, as i've only heard good things about them. if anybody else knows of good reliable hosts from their past experiences please let me know.

thanks!

Noyz319,
you might want to check the Offers forum...alot of hosts have different specials running there and you might find something there.
The only 2 hosts that come to my mind with that much transfer are http://www.tera-byte.com
and http://www.hostrocket.com
Good Luck

Thanks Martie,
I'll go take a look in that forum.
I actually have 2 other sites, and have one hosted at Hostrocket and one at Tera-byte. i like both of them, for the specific sites i host with them, and i'll keep hostrocket open as a possible host for this particular site.

Like they say in the stock market world, "Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results." :)

There are lots of factors that can cause downtime, and just because most hosts have been able to elude them in the past doesn't mean they'll continue to do so. You never know when you'll have something like a hard drive failure...

If it's *really* important for you, you should look for hosts that do more than just say that they have "guaranteed uptime". Look for systems built for high availability. Personally, I haven't seen many virtual hosting solutions where it's explicitly states that high availability servers are used...

But if you'd settle for 95% uptime instead of 99.x%, there are many hosts to choose from.
