View Full Version : Mail Server
Aeria 09-18-2002, 07:24 PM Just want to see what suggestions everyone may have for a Mail Server running Windows 2000 for hosting business???
Any choices better than the next???
Thanks,
Gary
okihost 09-18-2002, 07:29 PM I think it all depends on how much $$$ you are willing to spend..
Aeria 09-18-2002, 07:33 PM Of course the less the better!!!!
DougK94 09-18-2002, 09:35 PM Merak was the best solution for us. We have used it for over a year without any problems at all.
Aeria 09-18-2002, 09:43 PM I was just looking and bench testing the IPSwitch IMail Server which looks pretty simple. Do you know anything about this?
With regard to the Merak, how many domains / users do you have installed???
I appreciate the help and suggestions you can provide...
Thanks,
Gary
Sectorlink 09-18-2002, 10:27 PM We have been using Imail for about a 1 year now and no problems at all. I would recommend it. It is very easy for your clients to use. In fact we are just getting ready yo put another Imail server.
code007 10-15-2002, 04:21 AM I heard ppl say that Imail smtp takes a lot of resource. Is it true?

MatthewN 10-15-2002, 05:01 AM We use Mail Enable. It's free from www.mailenable.com I believe. I also had my programmer add functions to the control panel so customers can create, delete, manage mailing lists, auto responsers and more.
McMiGHtY 10-17-2002, 05:24 AM Mdeamon works great
Samuel 10-17-2002, 06:48 AM Mail Enable is slick on windows 2000 server =)
TechEGlobal 10-18-2002, 01:10 AM We also use IMAIL Mail Server. We haven't had any problems with it so far. I personally love it. I do notice it takes its share of resources when SMTP is being actively used. But overall it's the best thing I hae ever seen.
Later Gater...
knight74 10-18-2002, 01:35 AM We also like Mailenable.

Benjamin 10-26-2002, 04:49 PM What about mail programs for linux/unix - type servers? Any suggestions? Also, if you know of any free ones, let me know.

Please don't change the subject this thread is about.
Open your own thread please.

The topic is about mail servers (whether they are for windows or linux). If I were to create another thread topic, someone else would go and say "hey, why'd you open a new topic when you could have posted in the other one about mail servers?!"
Plus, I am helping get more answers to the request for windows mail servers because my post has brought the thread up higher so more people read it. I wouldn't think of that as a bad thing.
no1v2 10-26-2002, 05:28 PM The most popular *nix MTA's that can be compiled for Linux are Sendmail, QMail, Exim, and Postfix. Just Google them for their sites. You should evaluate them on your own to find out which one fits your needs (not the needs of some random WHT poster ;)).
ServerCentreLtd 10-26-2002, 07:44 PM To go back on topic. We use Imail 7.12 haven't had any problems. Although it is a little pricey, I would certainly recommend it for the hosting industry.
