I got this in my email this morning:

KShoK has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Help Control Process Overpopulation! - in the WebHostingTalk Lounge forum of WebHostingTalk Forums.

etc etc., the usual email when someone replies. I check the thread, and there's only one reply, not two like that email would make you think. (the thread's at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=75197 BTW.)

Has anyone else had a similar situation where posts just disappeared?

Gotta go with Samuel. Sometimes moderators are on the ball.

Yes, last night, just after asking a moderator to get rid of my reply, and two other user's replies due to their off topic nature.

Just when one of the users replied, a moderator removed "It" and the three I asked to be removed.

It was without a doubt aggresive moderation.

Mind, consider the nature of your message, then consider the rules. If you can suspect that you might have broken some rule, I would expect it to be aggresive moderation (Proactive also).

I haven't seen an indication that there is corruption or overprocessing on this server in several days (Dragging pages etc)

I am surprised to see my post missing. I dont know what off the topic reply you had seen in my post.

The rules are strict though, and it would help if you put your post into context as I've done.

Your reply is important (Context more specific)

Usually posts are deleted because they are against forum rules, but sometimes is is necessary to delete posts just because they have been posted "for the sake of posting" for example, I went into the Lounge a day or so ago and noticed that someone had posted to almost half of the threads on the first page, sometimes this is spamming and sometimes boredom on the posters behalf.

"boredom" posts where womeone enters a thread, has little to say and just says "im bored" gets deleted because its pointless.

other stuff that just seems to be useless content is just deleted aswell.

i guess you could say "aggressive moderating"

Thank goodness for aggressive moderation or we'd be like Slashdot (http://www.slashdot.org/) - full of trolls. :D

we were actually thinking of making moderation like slashdot at one point, i quite like it, even for the amount of trolls the junk still doesnt show up, because they just get "modded down"

everyone mods and nobody gets "bored" of modding because they can only mod for a limited period of time.

What about the "jokes" that get 5's when they should have gotten far less? :cartman:
