What do you guys use to track bandwidth usage on a Windows 2000 Server?

I've been looking for a good tool for the past 4 days and simply haven't found one that works ok. I've been using Analox Netstat Live, but it only calculates one fat total per month.

I don't have access to router info, so traditional SNMP and MRTG wont work, it needs to use the traffic passing through the nic.

Any suggestions?

Do a search for:

tesseract

Or,

www.itcan.net

Samuel,

??? Neither of these seem relevant to the question: one is a web hosting company and tesseract.com is web-based HR.

What did you have in mind?

http://www.webattack.com/get/tesseract.shtml

Sorry about that, takes a bit of searching for both.

Thanks, Samuel. Not exactly the kind of programs I'm looking for. These capture too much detailed information about each connection and packets. Too much extra load on the server.

you can do SNMP traffic on a windows machine and use MRTG to monitor it

http://www.wtcs.org/snmp4tpc/mrtg.htm#Windows%20NT
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Rampart/9209/
http://www.wn.com.au/psimmo/

there is also a site from Microsoft that updates the MIBs in SNMP to show more detail in the CPU usage. I can't find that URL at the moment.

Hope this helps.

If you installed Simple Network Tools you can use MRTG to track bandwith etc.
