You can also get .COMs for $6.99 at Godaddy (for the first year). Just search Google for "domain" and the Godaddy 6.99 offer should show up as an advertisement.

GoDaddy's offers can beat $7.99 reg or renewal by the help of coupons. There always are some quality godaddy coupons, just need to find it every time you need to reg a new domain or renew one. This one (http://www.kavoir.com/2009/01/699-com-domain-coupon-at-godaddy-for-both-registration-and-renewal.html) enables you to register or renew any .com at $7.19 including ICANN fee at GoDaddy.
It worked for me just now, but I don't know when it would expire.
