Please define for us what you mean by a terrestial server as all servers seem to be terrestial to me. onlyreal 03-26-2001, 11:02 AM located in mars i saw darth vader has one may be he is asking that:) nisus 03-26-2001, 01:54 PM This just in: "An intergalactic alien pimp society has gone underground on planet Earth. Experts agree, recent bandwidth shortages worldwide are the result of heavy traffic on the societies network of websites. A meeting with NATO has been scheduled today with hopes of resolving the situation. Operatives have been reported scouring the web for potential bidders." :D geekwannabe 03-26-2001, 03:22 PM After purchasing my plot near the Sea of Tranquility I set up a low cost server for "offshore" hosting. This will allow you and your customers to avoid all taxes. email: lunacy@moon.taken.com for further details. Chicken 03-26-2001, 10:16 PM I'm glad I'm not the only one who had no idea what that meant. But I'm also glad some others posted first :) JTY 03-26-2001, 10:26 PM I've got no idea.... Duster 03-26-2001, 10:34 PM There was a rumor about a hosting company based on the moon, and it turned out to be faked. ;) CRego3D 03-26-2001, 10:36 PM It's not FAKED !!! Damm Level 3 is giving us problems over there as well :D energy 03-26-2001, 10:53 PM I offer dedicated servers on the moon. I got some space from http://www.moonshop.com/ Please contact me by telepathy jolly 03-27-2001, 01:33 AM I mean to say..... data center which is connected via vsat or satellite link not with oc's or t1 or t3 lines. There are few companies who provide terrestial dedicated servers . Their whole data center is on satellite link. If you knows then let me know if you dont know about it then check it out...... :) JTY 03-27-2001, 01:55 AM Just wondering, but why would you want a sat link? They have high latency in comparison to ground based links. Duster 03-27-2001, 01:59 AM It seems a terrestrial hostingcompany would be one that is hard wires with T1s, etc., the opposite of what you are seeking. What you want is a company with satellite links as opposed to land lines. jolly 03-27-2001, 02:14 AM Do you know what is "VIRTUAL DATA CENTER" The benefit of terrestial dedicated server is you can have server in your bedroom. Your machine will be connected to the ISP who provide terrestial dedicated server. You can take care of your server. You dont have to wait for any change or pay your ISP for the upgrades in term of RAM, PROCESSOR, HDD You can do anything with it. It makes no sense of having one dedicated server with satellite link but when its about server'S it make sense. In other words you can have your own data center in your Bathroom :) If you have any information about it then please let me know JTY 03-27-2001, 09:40 AM Well check out, http://www.tachyon.net/ they do sat links. kunal 03-27-2001, 10:08 AM i hope all of you and the servers come in peace. Mbarb 03-27-2001, 10:41 AM In other words you can have your own data center in your Bathroom Why would you want to run a data center from your bathroom.. Ahh, I get it, you could do hard reboots while you take care of other buisness... Duster 03-27-2001, 02:36 PM You could flush your data and wipe your hard disk clean, literally as well as figuratively. |
