I know this has been brought up before, but nothing returns on a search for remote hands..

But I'm looking for a decent setup, which will mount in a 1U rack space so I can manage servers remotely...

Only needs to take maybe 3 servers...

Remote hands ??

well, basically most control software (PCAnywhere and the like) can deal with the operating system pretty well as long as you have a connection.

For reboots and power-offs and ons many UPS systems have the ability to shut down, etc (for higher end stuff)

I think he is referring to equipments that can handle console access before the OS is even boot up. These are not the same as remote-access software such as ssh or pcanywhere - remote console access are hardware solution.

Correct...

Also any personal experinces with them would be great to hear, I've heard of people having a hard time setting them up...

I use these. They work like champs, I haven't had a single issue with them.

What's cost per port? I imagine it would be extremely expensive if you plan to manage a full rack remotely.

nm

Cheaper than I thought.
