Just wondering what the favoured currency is among the Canadian providers out there? especially those that "purchase" most of their own services from the US. It makes things rather difficult when billing your customers in the loonie, while paying your own providers in the US currency.
With the forever fluctuating currency trends, it`s difficult for Canadians to offer services in their own currency, considering how much the loonie goes for against the US dollar.
If you sell with the loonie but buy with the US currency, how do you prepare for currency changes such as a weaker loonie which will effect your income and outgoing bills? Surely you can`t keep adjusting your prices!
Hope I made some sense there!!!

If you look at large Canadian online retailers, most have their pricing in CAD if they ship within Canada. Now if you look at some of the Canadian hosting companies, they have their pricing in CAD and USD. Then there are some service providers who list their prices in USD, Euro or in their countryâs currency.
It depends on the types of products and services you provide, where you provide your service and what your competitors are offering. Customers will sometimes compare prices without going through the trouble of currency conversion so itâs good to do some type of analysis so you do not lose your customers to competition.

If you customers are gonna be all American then you must charge in American and so you need to find a US currency providers if you are processing online. All the Canadian 3rd party processor only process in Canadian prices and that is something you want to stay away from. It is better to charge in American because when the CDN dollar falls your profits rise and since Sept my profits rose quite nicely. If the CDN dollar rises you just increase your prices on the website. Now if you are trying to be competitive with other US sites selling similar and have to match their prices you might have a problem because if the CDN rises you will be stuck at that price on the site and make less. While if you charge in Canadian you can always adjust the price upwards and it still will equal the same. Now if you are just charging over the phone and not online then you can charge in whatever currency you want and convert over if it is US, as we do. When people call in you just calculate the rate and charge in CDN funds and explain to the customer that there will be a exchange rate difference on their card. So charge in US funds if you can increase the price, but charge in cdn funds if you can't. Oh to adjust the prices you can just put it a percentage increase program and add it to the database for quick adjustments, the backend program will display the increase. My business partner does all that he can help just PM me for info.
All the Canadian 3rd party processor only process in Canadian prices and that is something you want to stay away from. Did you mean that they only allow you to process orders on your site in CAD? InternetSecure offers both CAD and USD accounts. Pretty sure PSIGate does too.
