View Full Version : Best 'live chat' support software
DME-Geoff 01-14-2009, 06:57 PM Looking around to upgrade my live chat system and was wondering what your opinions are in regards to the 'best' software to use.
Looking at something like ProvideSupport.
Any opinions appreciated.
Thanks.
PogiWeb 01-14-2009, 07:24 PM I personally like livezilla and its free.
[JSH]John 01-14-2009, 07:38 PM I use Live Help Messenger and would recommend it. Livezilla also looks good and it doesn't cost anything.
Mike - Limestone 01-14-2009, 07:45 PM I like Kayako SupportSuite - excellent product. It is not free, however.
-mike
Arun - HostLevel3 01-14-2009, 07:53 PM I personally like livezilla and its free.
I second that.
Though i have a feeling that it will go paid anytime
waveweb 01-14-2009, 08:00 PM Kayako Live support is great, after you use it.. you will not want another one.
dreamcodedesign 01-14-2009, 08:00 PM I would also recommend Kayako SupportSuite like Mike. or http://livehelp.stardevelop.com/
All the best,
diligent 01-14-2009, 08:41 PM I second that.
Though i have a feeling that it will go paid anytime
I'll third that! Let's hope it doesn't though, thats most likely one of the reasons it got such popularity so fast, from being freeware. Otherwise I'll switch back to Crafty Syntax, which is good as well :)
RandyE 01-14-2009, 11:31 PM Livezilla! Its an awesome piece of software, you get tons of features, same as you get for paid software. Only with livezilla, its all free!
teachforjune-Scott 01-14-2009, 11:38 PM We use provide support and the only real beef that I have with it is that it only maintains statistics for the people who are actually on your site right then. Once they leave, those statistics are gone. It would be nice if they kept them in a log somewhere.
As we work on Macs and Linux (absolutely hate Windows/M$), livezilla has not been an option for us. If they would create a webpanel or a mac/linux client, we would be able to try them.
JordanT 01-14-2009, 11:58 PM I dido with power. We use provide support and have never looked back!
jlopez26 01-15-2009, 01:16 AM Kayako and ProvideSupport are great. I perfer the second... but I guess it because I've worked with it so much I'm used to it.
gimpson 01-15-2009, 08:51 AM LiveZilla is pretty amazing for being free. I did not expect it to be as good as it is. I definately recommend it.
UH-Bobby 01-15-2009, 10:09 AM I second that.
Though i have a feeling that it will go paid anytime
I love livezilla as well, and like you said I have a feeling it will go paid eventually.
Honestly, their website is very high quality, and it almost feels like a commercial product waiting to be sold.
TmzHosting 01-15-2009, 04:28 PM LiveZilla all the way. It beats most paid live chat software. Its free try it.
Rageki-John 01-15-2009, 08:47 PM I use Livezilla as well. It's free and it has a lot of features that a host requires.
MV-Justin 01-15-2009, 08:51 PM I prefer to use Kayako Live chat. Its not free, but its well worth the price!
MarkW78 01-15-2009, 10:07 PM We use and have had good luck with Crafty Syntax. Kayako Live Chat is supposed to be pretty good, but I've never personally tried it.
AquariusStorage 01-15-2009, 11:16 PM LivePerson is by far the best in my opinion. Unfortunately it comes at a premium price tag as well, at least $50/month/operator.
Kaumil 01-17-2009, 04:14 PM Kayako makes good ticketing software, their live chat isn't so hot. My vote goes to LivePerson.
njoker555 01-17-2009, 09:24 PM I personally like livezilla and its free.
I recently discovered the livezilla was free even though I've known the name for months, never really checked up on it until a few weeks ago lol
livazilla is great, i would definitely recommend it, I am personally working on getting it up, and so far, it's pretty easy, just the new livezilla version is a bit buggy when it comes to allowing other staff people to download the operator client
other than that, it's good
I've tried kayako before as well as liveperson but no thorough experience so I can't really fully recommend those
subzer0 01-17-2009, 10:59 PM ..it almost feels like a commercial product waiting to be sold.
You're right, it does. I don't use it, but I have tried it and I admit it does look fantastic. So many people keep praising it. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some behind the scenes plan to introduce pricing options. Maybe they've been providing it free as a way to get people hooked on it and then turn around and charge for it. We'll see. Remember when AVG started out? Now look at them.
teachforjune-Scott 01-17-2009, 11:10 PM I would think that before they start charging, they would at least have to offer a webpanel. For us Mac/Linux users, it's not available and if they want to compete at the paid level, they would definitely have to offer that. So many hosts work of linux machines and to exclude that would be a detriment if they're a paid service. For a free service, they don't have to maximize their options, but as a paid one, they would in order to compete with what's already out there.
H0stD3m0n 01-22-2009, 11:38 PM IMHO ProvideSupport is the software bar none. Easy-to-use, Affordable, and great Customer Support. Only grip, wish they're own live chat support was open 24/7.
UsefulPC 01-23-2009, 01:11 AM Hi Nexbyte,
I would suggest having a look at PHP Live, its also an excellent choice. You'll find it to be reliable and posess more features than Live Messenger.
exenett 01-23-2009, 03:57 AM I use LiveZilla myself, its easy to use and install.
Matt - Kerplunc 01-23-2009, 05:09 AM I use Hab.la
Not many people use it for live support but i like it. It's unique and works really well.
crazylane 01-23-2009, 05:52 AM Livezilla is the best much, much more features than PHPlive and uses less resources. I have a client with 20+ operators.
PruHosting 01-23-2009, 01:39 PM I personally also use LiveZilla, and for freeware, it does the job pretty well.
The only function I miss in LiveZilla is a visitor log, other then that, it's great.
lothianhosting 01-23-2009, 02:10 PM yeah i totally agree livezilla is free and powerful
jane0109 01-24-2009, 06:52 AM I'm using live2support.com on my site and this is really amazing Software.
geekhost 01-24-2009, 05:33 PM I give my credits to LiveZilla software ;)
JohnJ 01-24-2009, 07:59 PM Looking around to upgrade my live chat system and was wondering what your opinions are in regards to the 'best' software to use.
Looking at something like ProvideSupport.
Any opinions appreciated.
Thanks.
ProvideSupport is good. A couple other you'll want to look into are Kayako and LivePerson.
lalala 01-25-2009, 07:36 AM I personally like livezilla and its free.
Thanks for bringing this up! Been looking for a robust and free live support application.
tommyinnn 01-25-2009, 02:02 PM I've used Crafty Syntax for years, it provides great data like page visits, seo, etc. plus it FREE! There is also a windows version.
Paul-SimplisticHost 01-25-2009, 07:37 PM Hey guys! Awesome tip on the LiveZilla. That's an amazing tool and it's completely free ;)
topdollarhosting 01-26-2009, 02:01 AM kayako by far
Ecotours 01-26-2009, 02:40 AM LivePerson is by far the best in my opinion. Unfortunately it comes at a premium price tag as well, at least $50/month/operator.
I signed up with them last week, I pay $90 a month and I can have several users but only one can be on-line at a time. I just found out that they do not limit how many sites I can use it on. Are you getting the $50 rate because you are paying for a bunch of operators?
webhostinglicenses 01-26-2009, 02:45 AM Yes you'll never go anything wrong with the liveZilla software. It is completely free chat software with advanced features. It also contains a FTP-Solution which uploads the source files for you. No need to edit files by hand any longer.
FibaHost 01-26-2009, 02:54 AM so far am very impressed with livezilla it works for us and the cost is the best benefit :)
DATARTIM 01-26-2009, 02:58 AM Liveperson 10/10
$alesMan 01-26-2009, 11:40 PM Stardevelop is the most reasonable for what you pay (99$ if I rember correctly)
ChatStat is a good option (very expensive/monthly fee for opperators but tons of cool tools like remote assistance)
Livezilla- Free but I'll bet it will go paid soon
RandyE 01-27-2009, 03:02 AM People have been saying Livezilla will be paid soon since its release. I don't see it happening. At least not in the near future.
RandyE 01-27-2009, 03:04 AM Yes you'll never go anything wrong with the liveZilla software. It is completely free chat software with advanced features. It also contains a FTP-Solution which uploads the source files for you. No need to edit files by hand any longer.
But thats the best part :D I actually hate letting the software upload things for me. I prefer to do it myself, plus, somehow, when I let things do it for me, it gets messed up and doesn't work and I end up having to upload it manually anyway.
kencox 01-27-2009, 03:17 AM We just started using LiveZilla and its a great package. Very well put together software for open source. I would expect to see big things out of them in the future.
I had some problems out of the Gate Make sure everyone is logged off when your updateing and Ive had problems with the javascript in IE7. I blame it on IE not LiveZilla.
No major problems a snap to install and configure and has great features.
hostingcertified 01-27-2009, 05:22 AM I am using clickchatsold.com. It's excellent live chat software... however, they miss a very good feature which is "all the chat transcripts sent to as email to the admin". Otherwise, i love it.
