Once you modify the back-end files of anything upgrading becomes a nightmare b/c the upgrades usually will overwrite the mod's added. I'm currently running a decently active phpBB but, keeping it at 2.0.1 because I really don't want to bother to go through and re-add the mods and personal hacks already done.
