I've had a ***** server for three months now, and it's been fine. Reboots were prompt, and their network is very fast. The specs of the server are about double what I ordered. I wish I could get more IP addresses so I could use the server for more things.

That search feature is far too underrated, give it some credit and use it!

I know someone who recently got a server at *****. She can't run cgi programs and she also can't find her server error logs (even afger being given directions) since apparently, ***** does not put them in the typical location of other Red Hat Linux servers.

Node9,

<<EDIT>>

What server is http://www.securityapex.com/ on??

And why in the world would your friend go to ***** when Pogo is soooooo great??

The mere fact that Pogo and RackLocation are associated is enough to say that Pogo sucks. Not to mention the fact of the way that they have handled themselves.

By the way you never answered one of my questions. What are some of the other tech numbers for Pogo Linux??

Node9,

<EDIT>.

Im generally not one to complain, but Node9... you really do need to calm down. Posting the way you have been posting since you started here is not the way to earn the respect of others.

Regards,

Mike

Everyone, let's lose the name calling and keep the thread on topic. Matrix please ask, "What are some of the other tech numbers for Pogo Linux??" in another thread.

Chicken,

I already did and he won't answer. Just like Tim of Pogo wouldn't answer nor would he answer my e-mails.

It is unfortunate your friend is having problems with *****.com. You said "I know someone who recently got a server at *****. She can't run cgi programs and she also can't find her server error logs (even afger being given directions) since apparently, ***** does not put them in the typical location of other Red Hat Linux servers."

wel here's the thing.... Basically, I do my own admin stuff.. When I got my racklocation server, it came with all the default redhat install. Even xinetd, i hate xinetd.

I basically gave the box a makeover. I installed sshd, inetd, killed xinetd, new apache, mysql, etc.

customized EVERYTHING, paths, anything that i didnt like....

One of the reasons we got a server from *****.com is because of the price is cheap, we dont have soooooo much money to spend on other servers, even though i would love to get servers from other places like weinbar, and pogo, it isnt easy sometimes pulling out all that cash

so anyways.. i'm sorry your friend is having problems, but I doubt that I would have any problems with my *****.com server, the only problems I could have are things like, gcc not being installed, missing libraries..., connectivity problems, bandwith issues etc.

other than that, i could/can take care of it myself.. I'm not saying you are saying that they are bad cus she is having problems, but i'm just saying that for me it wouldnt matter cus i would never use their default stuff

Matrix, for your information, securityapex.com is ran off dialtoneinternet's dual oc12. It runs redhat linux 7.0 (os+distro was not my choice). I have removed all the default crap and instaled my own stuff.

Node9,

What are some of the other tech numbers for Pogo Linux? And i'm referring to other numbers other than the one listed on their site.

Is your website that's on Dialtone with RackLocation?

node9,

She's not a friend, just someone I know. I reported what I knew about her difficulties without judgment. She is a beginner and is hampered by the problems where others, like yourself, with experience and knowledge to replace their programs and configurations would not be.

***** are a bunch of mongs.

I got my first dedicated server from them back in December last year, and I could not install PHP4 because of the version of linux they were running (that was what they told me) so they said I would need to get RH6.2 installed.

Soooo I ordered RH6.2 to be installed in February - which they did do.

No more control panels for adding domains.
Server was not setup how I wanted it - they agreed to install the latest MySQL, Apache, PHP etc but they didn't.

To top it all, they messed up my IP addressess and assigned a load of them to another server. So some sites were no longer working cos another server was using the IPs I was assigned!

So I complained to them, and they said I was talking bollocks and said they want me to contact sales to get a quote on someone looking at the server.

I refused because it WASN'T my fault they ballsed up. So after about 6 weeks of emailing them etc they began to ignore my emails and support tickets.
I told my reseller who sold me the server, and he eventually got them to fix it but by assigning me a whole new range of IPs.

Fine, ok - I can handle that small downtime when the new IPs had to propaginate.

Then a week after it was all working ok, I woke up to loads of screaming clients emailing/ICQing me saying their sites were down.

I telnetted into the server to find out they had changed all the IP addresses again - without telling me.
I was soooooo mad that I block their transactions on my credit card and got a Ventures Online server instead.

They never did bitch at me for breaking my contract with them.

Also, avoid Vikmar.com too

Well, I hate to say it too.. but I too have 2 servers from *****.com

I also have a server from Burst which rocks. The reason I have the Burst server is because I made the mistake of getting the ones at *****.

I had so many problems that it was unbeliveable.. I finally got someone to listen and gave me credit.. apparantly a sizeable credit.. I'm not using them right now but thinking about starting for some low end sites or something. I signed up last year during a promotion where you get one server you get one free :D

Well, I know the reputation of ***** NOW and would not sign up with them after having dealt with burst.... but after many months the servers are actually running great (i still use them for different things but not customers sites) because I'm not being charged right now. But when I do BOTH servers will only cost $115 and on one server I get 50 gigs of bandwidth and the second i get 20 gigs... got a 30 gig hd on one and 20 gig on the other... I THINK running celeron 800mhz.. not 100% sure though. The performance of the connection has greatly increased though over the past few months. So I don't know... at that price surely I can find something to do with them but I would definately NOT sign up with them if I was a new customer.
