I have a website done in MSFrontpage. It has a table with mapping and "onmouseover" coding in it. It works fine in AOL & with Internet Explorer, but I all but lose the "onmouseover" in Netscape Navigator. Any ideas why this is? I have a less complicated site done with MS Frontpage that has an "onmouseover" (no table and no mapping) that works just fine using Netscape. I'm open to suggestions.

Tks

Netscape hates 'onmoseover" becuase they are not stable with it.

Only IE loves them :D

The only version of Netscape that supports this is 6.0, which is an extreme resource hog. Netscape only has about 20% of the market, so I wouldn't worry too much about old Netscape versions if I was you.

I have no problem getting onmouseover to work in Netscape 4, but I don't know about the other versions. Check your codes again. Make sure your quotes ' and " are matched up correctly. I have made this error just a few days ago, and
I know Frontpage is terrible in validating these sort of errors.

...

You're not kidding. The computer we tested it out on has only 64 megabytes RAM, and 6.0 brought the whole system to a near halt. (Interesting note: I noticed in the server logs that someone from Microsoft was browsing around our site and the browser was listed as "MSIE 6.0b".)

If you're having trouble making rollovers work with an image map (I've *never* been able to get those to work right), you may consider cutting up the image into small chunks and using standard rollovers. Depending on the image and what you're doing with it you might increase the image size a bit, but the improved compatibility might be worth the trade off.

Your other option is to use Flash.
