Wondering between the two, could be an ideal webhost for a not so big website.
Supposedly the budget is, around, <= 10$, just to start things off, and if ever upgrade the packages in the future, eventually.

Kriz,

try dot5.

IF you're still comparing Myacen and hostingmatters . I'll would recommend Myacen. While I have no account with Myacen, I heard good things about their reliability and support. Their website/support system looks great and the price/features is moderate/reasonable.
Myacen is on my favorite webhosts list next to my current host, Clicknetsolutions.com

hnmedcom hmm i checked out clicknetsolutions, the deals seem to be manageable, but quite low.
How long have you been signed up with them?
Are they stable, how is their uptime.
Any problems so far? :D
let me know either by posting in the thread or by email, thanks alot :)

hostingmatters.com began life on the internet May 7, 2000 - and has a much more visually appealing website in my opinion. Their hosting plans overview page leaves a bit to be desired because you have to assume they really mean their Control Panel does everything including multidomain, and other features people are growing used to and expect. Hostingmatters uses IP address space assigned to NAC (Net Access Corporation) which themselves has a very good reputation. My traceroute from rackshack system to hostingmatters.com was about 48ms average, non-peak time.

myacen.com August 6, 2000 - Definitely hilighting wanted options on their main page making clicky*click*search almost non-existant (I like that). Their prices do seem low, which concerns me as far as how long they will be around. But they are still here since 2000 which is good enough for me. Especially since you are only looking to pay around $10 monthly. Myacen uses IP address space from Net Depot, Inc. but apparently has only a link to cogent (I could be wrong). My traceroute to myacen was actually better than hostingmatters.com, however I was running them from a system I have also located on cogent (but shouldnt 32ms cogent 2 cogent concern some of us?)

If I had to base my decision off of this alone, I would opt for hostingmatters.com. You may need to get accounts from both and choose based on your experience with them. I'm sure you could go for their lowest plans during test phase, and then upgrade to one that better suits you once you have made your decision.

Good luck, and I hope you make the right decision (let us know what it is when you know :))

This on personal experience? I don't remember you being a client. What are you basing this on?

Hey, you stole my name! :D

That sounds great that they are adding more links. You never know when there's going to be a fiber cut, or if there's going to be ANOTHER one before the first gets repaired.

Yep, your wrong mate: http://www.fixedorbit.com/AS/16/AS16626.htm

As Robert pointed out already, they are also getting additional lines from williams and verio in the weeks to come. My experience with this datacenter has been exceptional.

Yes you are right. Cogentco has 66.250/16. am guessing Net Depot, Inc. is this DV2 that I'm hearing about, who happens to have a link with cogentco.

is myacen and solidinternet.com one in the same? i am very close to signing up with solidinternet, and they have the following on the bottom of their pages: "Copyright 2002, Myacen Network All Rights Reserved". can anyone say anything good about thse guys? myacen seems like a fairly safe bet, and i'm kinda hoping that these dudes are too since i can afford them... any comments are very helpful! peace.

i guess what i'm wondering is this:

is solidinternet as much of a "safe bet" as myacen since it is part of the myacen network?

Yes :)

Just keep in mind that Solidinternet comes with much less support then Myacen accounts.

Jay's basing it on the fact that Hostmatters has servers with pweb. This is exactly why we don't want hosts recommending other hosts they haven't used, as discussed in the Suggestions/Feedback forum. If I had caught this earlier (before there were replies) it would have been removed.
