There was a thread a couple weeks ago about who would end up buying the napster domain looks like a porn company just make a bid for 3 million.. I can understand it generating alot of traffic but I doubt if it will ever recoup the 3 million..

The porn industry doesn't have all that much trouble making money. I don't see this causing them any problems myself. My 2¢.
If I had that much money, I would just get the name just to "own" a piece of 'net history. Then I could tell my grandkids that this name changed the way we viewed file sharing. :P

I mean how many people still hit up napster.com ?
The only thing is that the purchase might be all over the news and that could help you out

I already own PixelSh*t.com why would I buy Napster.
It would have some value just for the same reasons a lot of recently-expired domain names do: still showing a PageRank 8 and 6,800 backwards links at Google.
But: The company's chief executive, Charles Prast, said his company is interested in using the Napster trademark merely to place a familiar brand name on a peer-to-peer network for his pornography seeking customers.
Not content to remain mired in the print pornography world, Private has branched out into the Internet and even offers adult content for mobile phones and PDAs like Palm and Pocket PC devices. So, if you're going to set up a new peer-to-peer network, on any topic, it's a great name. If you're setting up a peer-to-peer network that's probably likely to make money anyway, it'd probably mean quite a lot more money. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they recoup the $3 million.

The pornography industry wants to turn napster into a way to share images and video clips, self-promotion.
There was a story floating around about it.

$8.88 :emlaugh:
.... I wouldn't buy napster.com .... I might get it if it was free though... But you'd need quite abit of money because the music industry would sue your ass off if you were to actually put music on it
:D
