View Full Version : Need personal HELP
nterprize 01-04-2009, 06:37 PM Hey I want to start a web hosting company and I have a few questions on how a a few things work...eg. setting up accounts, cpanel/whm, billing system, setting up just a e-mail account etc...
Thats just a few thingss.
I know, WHT is a great place to find answers but I need someone that spend time with me and is willing to answer a few questions..
Maybe thru AIM, MSN, Yahoo, phone...
Thanks in Advance,
SupportRep911 01-04-2009, 07:13 PM I'd recommend you look at this guide for some advise as well in case no one gives you free consultation or guidance via AIM, MSN, etc. : http://www.resellerguide.com/categories/setting-up-your-reseller-account/3
And I gave you a link to a "reseller" based website as, I myself would advise you to start with a reseller account if you do not know the fundamentals about how to use cPanel/WHM, setting up email accounts etc. so that you can receive additional support from your web host.
nterprize 01-04-2009, 09:04 PM Thanks...great link ...Very helpful.
I don't want to say its consultation that I need, its just I want to ask a few questions that are just more detailed then what these articles and posts on forums put out.
SupportRep911 01-04-2009, 09:30 PM Most people aren't just going to want to sit down with you and discuss back and forth all your questions, and if you have not found your answers you are looking for, why not just ask the question or issues that you are having so that we can give you a better detailed answer.
That way if someone else just like you comes along and needs help with the same problem, they wont be in the same predicament as you and can find this thread post helpful :)
That's what we do here on the forum is help each other, but it's best to keep conversations on the forum so that again if someone else has the same question they can easily find an answer to it.

Has it occurred to you, that you *should not* be starting a web hosting company?
If you do not know/understand the very most basic principles of a service you intend to offer, how do you expect to succeed?

I would have to agree as well, however, I will give him the credit for at least trying to ask and learn about it. I'd assume you (nterprize (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=208589)) don't have a site/server up at the moment.
I'd recommend you go into this with a partner/s who actually have knowledge about servers, and have them handle the servers and you gradually catch on if you have plans to try to take part in starting a company anytime soon.
1300webspace 01-05-2009, 11:44 PM Umm
you do not have to know about a server to run a webhosting business !!!
EG: get the server managed , learn the c-panel you wanna use
i agree you must be business minded :)
Start off with a resellers account there are some good offers out there , be sure to contact some of them for special needs
We have started off some I.T guys in the webhosting

You're right. You also don't need to know how to right hand turns to be a NASCAR driver but it helps right?

I was more suggesting, if you dont know anything about hosting, anything about technical issues (eg. setting up an email address), and anything about the basics of accounting/billing, what do you bring to the table?
SupportRep911 01-06-2009, 11:56 AM I'd have to say the same. It's like trying to open a car dealership and not knowing anything about cars....
It just helps to know a little something about your industry you are taking part in if you want to become successful. Not saying it's impossible to do so without being knowledgeable about your industry, but as someone said, "it does help".

You may definitely want to find a business partner for your first venture, especially one skilled on the technical side of things.
Good luck!
