I've been researching payment gateways, and authorize.net seems to be a good choice.
before I start this process can anyone tell me why they would be bad, or am I better off using something else? They have the option to download transactions into quickbooks which seems like it would be a plus?
Thanks!

I've not tried authorize.net, but a lot of people use them. One of the main reasons we don't use them is you have to check out each and every reseller to find the best pricing. That can be a daunting task.

I found a good one for $10 a month and low transaction rates. Who would you suggest?

2checkout has an app fee, but no monthly fees. They also have a debit card to access your finds more quickly.

Quantum Gateway is one of the best out there and inexpensive.

I personally use Google Checkout and PayPal.... Google has really cheap processing fees (per transaction)....

I have been using Authorize.net for years. If you do not already have a merchant account, you will need to get one.

2checkout is really good
most of billing softwares like whmcs, clientexec, agico provides it API as well
it is one time $49 fee, no monthly fee
