Hello!
I am developing my hosting packages for Brazil and other countries clients.
My problem is:
I want a good name for my packages. But packages named in english wont be good for my first class clients from Brazil.
What you think about to use this names:
UM, DOIS, TRÊS, QUATRO, CINCO
(1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Thank you!
(sorry my bad english)
This names can be in english or portuguese I dont know, yet.

What about the respective equivalents of comparatives like 'good', 'better', 'best', or 'basic','advanced', etc.?
Of if you wanted to use numbers (or letters) what about the numbers (or letters) themselves: Plan 1, Plan 2, or Plan A, and Plan B ? Wouldn't it be less language specific then? Are you going to have English and Portuguese versions of the site? If not, I'd think the plan names should agree with the language used on the site.

I like to incorporate the business name, into the type of plan with a level number. For example, a company is called NovaWeb, and the plan is the second shared plan, so I would name the plan one of the following: NWSharedOne, NWShared1, NWS1, NWSOne.
Really though, it's upto you for what you'd like to call each plan. You can base it on the type of plan, certain names which indicate the assumed user level (i.e. Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Professional, Enterprise, Commercial and what not), or just numbers.

Great. Simple. Easy. I think that follow names will be good for the portuguese version of my server.
the domain will be theboxserver.net so
Box 1, Box 2, Box 3, Box 4 ...
However, I have another problem: I have 3 client types with the same HDD/mo, BW/mo but that other diferences (applications, SVN/CVS and so on).
BlackBox 1,2,3 BlueBox 1,2,3, RedBox 1,2,3 ...
What you think about:
People 1,2,3
Company 1,2,3 or ...
Reseller Box 1, Box 2, Box 3
Or people box, company box, reseller box
Or other names:
Light, Master, Premium
Flex, Special, Unique,
Advanced, Partner, Mini/Max.
AND SO ON..
I am crazy! :)
Please more help

Anything unique will do in most cases. Something easy to remember for your clients, but something that you don't see at every other web host.

Most of our clients refer to our plans with their prices. Like the 1.99 plan etc.
We have named them with codes LHS (lacehost shared) & 1,2,3... according to plan level. So our plans are LHS1 , LHS2 .
This way, neither our clients nor employees get confused (as against generic names, like someone suggested above)

I only offer shared hosting, so I didn't have to label it with shared, but, I'm from Texas, my name Host Lonestar, so I went with a unique Texas theme for my packages, I have budget (couldn't really think of anything else for it, I'm open to suggestions though, y'all could PM me with suggestions) /hijack I also have Armadillo, Longhorn, and Texas Size. Those are things people think of when they think texas so I decided to go with them. And my logo is a variation of the Texas Rangers badge lol.

I think you are right on key on what most people here are trying to suggest. Make something generic/unique that fits your own company. :agree:

We just use standard naming, nothing special. The after-sales service speaks more volume than the name of the package ever can.
Web Hosting:
Basic
Intermediate
Expert
Reseller Packages:
Base
Professional
Master
Dedicated Servers:
Hobbyist
Small Business
Large Business

It's important that the name of the plans and the inherent feature differences in those plans is evident to the prospect and customer.
When it comes to plan names - think for yourself - would you buy a "Basic" or "Standard" package?
Always remember that the buyer can be convinced to jump up to the next package if you name/define/price them correctly. A stepped approach is common and expected, it's up to you to demonstrate the increasing value in the plans, and hopefully you can do that with all three factors.
Good Luck

Of course, if I was looking for a basic/standard package.

Try & think about it from your customers point of view. A knowledgeable client will know what specs they need, but a non-tech won't know whether a "bronze" or a "gold" will suit them better.
It comes down to how you differentiate your clients, how you target them, and the different offerings that you put together for each.
We incorporate the name of the customer type, or the intended usage that the product is targeted to, in the name of the package.
If the package is for a political candidate, its obvious which one they want, versus a consultant, vs a retailer etc.
