I have OpenSSL and mod_ssl both installed in the server.
How do i use it?

What are the commands i need to use to call that function although i don't have a cert?

I only want to test out the encryption part.

Even if you're just testing, you're going to have to generate a cert. You can generate your own, it just won't be signed by Verisign, et. al
