I am looking to develop a website which requires an online database in which basic user profiles(simple forms about personality and taste, similar to surveys) can be stored as well as a mainstream database of lists(collective of user profiles, so basically merging and scanning). I have no experience with databases but I do have experience with programming in java and delphi (+html and javascript) though I wouldn't mind learning SQL or php. The interface of the website should be created through dreamweaver, a simple yet intuitive site with form submissions and database access - I am open to other suggestions about making the interface of the site (and how would the processing of information be done? On the database side or the interface/website side?). Also, what type of server should I hire, to start off with I probably won't need much bandwith and we are on a really low budget here. Any links to tutorials and useful information would be appreciated.
