Hi
I'm just wondering, would it be wrong for some reason to post status updates from a reseller host directly into our own shared hosting website? (since they would know of any updates first)
This assumes the reseller is aware of this happening and is OK with it :agree:
Thanks

What exactly do you mean by status updates.
Kind of confusing, hardly any details.

So for example company A is taking down SERVER A. They send you a email/post that they will be doing this and you read this. You then are asking if its ok for COMPANY B(you) to post about SERVER A being down? Am I correct?

Yes that's correct sort of.
Company A - Reseller - has an RSS feed of any status updates (for example, a server has gone down).
I was wondering if there were any bad points to simply proxying that feed directly to my own clients (assuming the reseller knows I'm doing this). The alternative would be me monitoring the status feed myself and posting our own status updates manually as the updates come through.
It sounds silly I know, but it's just something I thought somebody would have some experience on around here (perhaps a client once picked up on your feed being taken directly from elsewhere and wern't happy for some reason because you tried to hide the fact you're operating from a reseller). I guess the question is more about wether clients would rather be told you're reselling or not (shared hosting).
I always seem to be the one asking senseless questions

Is the RSS feed white label? Do they mention specific server names or reference other company events?

Thanks for the tip. Reading through them, no. That's something I checked at the specific reseller but haven't actually asked them about future posts yet.
Server names I don't think would be a problem if the names aren't related to the business and don't include the full hostname (*.business.com).
I'm confident that the reseller can provide a good service to both me and my clients. It would be nice for shared hosting if I didn't have to mention that we were a reseller, because that's instant competition to our business. At the same time I'd like to use any resources (including status update feeds) to keep my own clients informed right on time without the middle man (me) passing information along :)
