what's a good (free) monitoring service which I can use to track any downtime on my reseller account? I have been using Karenware's 'Net Monitor, but that means that I have to leave my PC on all the time. anyone have any reliable online service to recommend? thanks!

The only free one I can think of is internetseer, but it isn't very reliable.
One of my clients kept on sending me reports for downtime that hadn't happened or reporting downtimes that were about 59 minutes longer than reality (ie. the server was offline for a minute, but as the scanner only passes once an hour it reported it down for an hour)
To be honest there probably aren't that many good free services left, as these things cost a lot of money to keep running...
Sorry..:(

I can recommend them. Been using them for about a year and are very accurate. It's Free for one Domain Name and checks every 15 minutes. The bigger, better, pay-for services are also available.

Yep - InternetSeer is very prone to crying wolf. Not recommended at all.

Plus they consistently spam you advertising all sorts of unrelated services. Aaaargh (just got one).

As stated above: easymonitor
Checks the server/site every 15 minutes (and not every hour like internetseer) and they don't send you all those adds in your email. They only send you a warning when your site/server goes down.
