View Full Version : Name.com's DNS displays ads on mistyped subdomains

I noticed that domains hosted on name.com and using their DNS servers will display ads if you type in a subdomain that isn't defined in the DNS records. For example, if you typed in maiil.domain.com instead of the intended mail.domain.com, it will display an ad page along with a pop-under ad.
Can this be disabled?
On a side note, I don't seem to have any luck finding name.com posts with this message board's search function.

Another reason to use your own DNS server. ;)

I never used name.com's dns hosting, so I can't tell you if you can disable it.
An option you should look at is if you can do a wild card DNS, therefore that anything not specified will go to s specific place (currently it goes to the ads). That way you would get rid of the ads.
