Sounds ok to me - its really hard to say since so much of the hosting sector is, by its nature, unreported.
Especially today it's very easy for any 14-year old to start his own hosting company, and unfortunatley customers are easily fooled into going with them. This makes for two possible outcomes:
1) Happy Customer: Revenue Never Reported
2) Unhappy Customer: Lost from Market...

This could start a totally different debate.... :-)
But is there no official body to regulate The hosting industry?
Like a Union for webhost customers? Would be a Good idea do u not think???
Thanks!

that's come up a few times in the past, and in some cases organizations were started. They've usually ended up being 'boys clubs' and lacking any real authority.
I think it's a good idea on paper, but the internet as a whole is impossible to fully regulate, legally or otherwise so I'm not sure it will ever happen.
As for the WHIR quote that sounds believable to me - though with no other facts to back up my opinion. It's still growing, and most people are over that dot.boom craze idea now.

$6.9 Billion? That is slow? Ha.
well, with about 100,000 domains being registered daily, The hosting biz is still semi profitable.
