IS there room for anymore reseller hosting companies?
I mean if someone was to startup a reseller hosting company they would pretty much have to be able to out due MChost and Voxtreme by service and price to stand a chance, but this would be hard for startup company, any input?

I think so. Just do something a bit different, or add something others are missing. Voxtreme has a good following, so they're doing something right. But we get 2 or 3 enquiries a day even though we're not adding any more resellers right now. Folks will always look at their options, even if they don't do it vocally and openly such as posting requests to a forum.

Good luck with your choices.

There is always room in the market, esp. if you are going to offer / cater to a different market. You just need to target a certian market not "resellers" as a whole.

If you know what I mean :)

Well I dont have reseller plans on my website and I just market in my own limited way in WHT (meaning I post in the offers ;) ), but I do a fairly good reseller biz

I think there is enormous room for all players

The examples you gave may be a couple that are talked about around here; but WHT is not the bulk of the market. I think there's room for lots more. Especially if you can provide a quality service.

We only get maybe one reseller/host/ded customer from WHT a month dont really bother advertising unless someone else posts for me.

Target local market etc and you will have many resellers knocking on your door.

Offer exeptional service and uptime and a good Control panel and your ready to grow.

Kind regards and good luck

Phillip

Its hard to believe however it is possible that something like this could happen. To start a profitable AND successful hosting company you should think about the following things, and PLAN everything out for a few weeks, if not months.

Money
- How much do you have to spend to get something started?
- Are you able to loose money the first few months but not be effected?
- Are you stable for a few months?
- If something where to happen do you have the money to fix it?

Support
- What types of support do you offer?
- Is it really available 24/7/365?
- What if the problem is out of your hands?
- How many support people do you have?

Planning
- Is this all planned out? Or an overnight idea?
- Are you in this for a while?

Servers
- Are you paying money for quality servers?
- How long will repairs take?
- Upgrades easy to accomplish?
- Uptime/Downtime?

There is tons of more things... those are just a few. Hope that helps.

If this is your mindset, then you shouldn't proceed. But yes, there is plenty of room for new service providers. mchost and voxtreme wouldn't hardly register a blimp on the world hosting stage. What happens around WHT is not what happens worldwide.

If your customer acquisition is limited to WHT, then you're in trouble. Lift up your eyes and look out beyond WHT. You'll see that the fields are ripe for harvest. :)

Very true and profound Bob, must be your theological background! :)

Your inside information on competitors' numbers and customer data is just amazing.

I think A-Bob's saying you haven't quite took over the entire world's worth of reseller hosting clients just yet, though you're working on it ;) In other words, there are a few more clients out there to get still...

There is plenty of customers left out there that have never heard of and maybe never will hear of MChost, Voxtreme or WHT.

I have had to cut off new sign ups several times over the last few months as I ran out of places to put them. WHT is but a small part of the hosting world. Sitting here day after day it is easy to start to believe this is the end all be all of hosting, that the prices here are real, and the host well known here are known every where.

As Bob put it so well, open your eyes there is a very large world out there.

There are just too many people spending all day on WHT because they think this is the limit of the hosting industry ;)

And mr arrogant steps in to sprinkle his comments around.

What, did you finally decide to mine another location Kiwi?, and doing so you subtely comment about it as if there was something you have stated here that anyone gives a rats ass about?

Your subtle arrogance is so blatant...

I think my reply was pretty much on-topic ...not sure what you think is wrong with it. The original thread question was "Is there room for anymore reseller hosting companies?" ...and by the looks of WebHostingTalk, it seems that the market is already flooded, which it isn't ..hence my comment that there are just too many people that think WHT is the limit of the hosting industry and concentrate too much here.

Again, not sure what is wrong with my reply :) I believe if the thread starter would have "given a rats a--" about it, he wouldn't have started the thread. Step outside and get some fresh air.

What inside information? I'm sorry if my comment offended you, Marc. I'm just saying you and voxtreme don't own the marketplace. This is what was implied by the thread starter by looking at what goes on here at WHT.

What goes on here is not what happens on the world stage. And yes, I know approximately the size of yours and Voxtreme's Reseller client database. Public knowledge. No big deal. :)

BTW, I've never really considered anyone here, my competitor.

Exactly. The marketspace is HUGE. Good place to be positioned. :D:agree:

Plenty for all good providers to serve...

:) Which is exactly why I said -

Just to reinforce what Bob has stated, webhosts and visitors to WHT are only a small portion of what is out there in the marketplace. This will continue to grow as the internet expands, eventually to every home and business on the planet. The only limitation to this expansion would be some catastrophic world event!
