Hi.
After being a long time reader, I've finally decided to join WHT. I want to know that how can I sell VPS or Dedicated servers? Is there any scheme in which I don't have to provide the support? Something like affiliate but it should not be known to end user that I'm an affiliate!
Thanks

Welcome aboard!
If you want to resell VPS or Dedicated servers, then you can piggy back on larger provider and offer their services to your customers. Otherwise you're looking at buying a bunch of servers, load them up with the OS and other necessary software to get the business up and running.
That takes a lot of time, money and effort.

Perhaps you should consider a private label reseller program to resell Dedicated Servers. Such programs are specifically designed for companies/individuals who wish to sell dedicated servers with the actual provider acting as a silent partner. You can mark the servers as you wish to and sell them to your customers.

Thanks gearworx and Ryan, I'm interested in Private label reseller. I've seen some resellers but they ask us to provide the support, which is certainly not possible because of lack of experience in this field.
Affiliate is a good option. Do you guys know of any such companies providing such solutions.
Thanks

I suppose that is the same as shared web hosting reselling. But to start with that you need to be sure you know market for them. I suppose all peoplo over there prefer start with shared hosting reselling at least as a try.

start with shared and offer a few dedicated packages to get the swing of things, you can always start with a small vps node and load up hyper-vm. You can automate the vps and shared account setup with whmcs (billing script) and you'll start to learn hte ropes fairly quickly. Hang in there it's more trial and error learning not falling on your face. Whmcs also comes with a ticketing system so you can take on the tickets that you know and watch the responses of the tickets that you forward to your hosting provider.

You can just outsource the support and just resell the servers quietly~

Get a third party firm to take care of server management. You can sign up as a reseller with pretty much any provider but the most beneficial route is to make friends in the industry. You build relationships and at the same time get access to internal pricing deals.

Indeed. The keyword is 'service'. Add services to the boxes for your customers that your partner does not offer. There is still market for that. Let's say specialist e-commerce hosting, etc.

Yep, I see a lot of hosts doing this. A lot of server price lists match up with LSN's and I ask them if they resell and what's the advantages with not buying directly. They all say they offer better management then Limestone Networks. But I did have 1 person tell me that they don't resell from LSN but LSN ripped their page. When it's the other way around. They ripped LSN ;)... But I'm sure the mods wont like if I post who.

Hey thank you so much for your response. I've just started reselling shared hosting locally in my city, and thought this would be a good option. After your replies, I think that I should gain more experience in the this field. After some time, I'll try to sell VPS and dedicated.
Thanks for all the support guys. I find that the people here are much more helpful than DigitalPoint, where people always try to rip off others(there are some exceptions though)

Don't know about VPS. But, for dedicated reselling I would recommend SoftLayer's reseller program. Everything is white labled to your company. But, you have to have at least 5 servers with them. http://www.softlayer.com/reseller.html Hope that helps.
All the best,

Well there are companies which ask you to provide first level support. If its complicated and you can 't solve, you can forward to their helpdesk(this is only with managed server provider).

Gigenet is one of those.

You should not resell for a service that you do not know about or how to help your customers with it. If I bought a VPS from you I would be very dis-apointed to find out you could not help me with something which means I would not purchase this VPS from you. I do not think there is any company out there that will support your clients and if they do then they will give their company name, not yours. I sappose you could resell VPS and hire some tech's to do the support for you.
Thanks

If you know a lot of people (i.e through a community) and you can attract them as clients to a hosting provider, then you may contact some providers and ask them if they provide some kind of referral bonus for you and discount for the client. Even if they don't officially offer it, several providers may offer you a custom deal. That way, the potential client will mention your name in order to get the discount and you'll be credited with the bonus.
The referral bonus and discount may not be huge, but it's a good start. That will help you to start getting involved and learn more about the hosting business and then you can start reselling servers by providing your own support. You never know, you may end up having your own company providing your own custom services.
Good luck :)

Resell white label servers and then hire a 3rd party to support them? What exactly is this man going to do then? Billing? and my god... How is he going to profit?
