View Full Version : Flying Hosts
XtremepH 09-14-2002, 10:15 PM i signed up with these people (http://www.flying-hosts.com )on Thursday and have yet to recieve a confirmation email saying my hosting account has been setup. I contacted them via email to two of there addy's and no reply. Is there response always this slow? I am know pondering if i should ask for a refund.
eweber 09-14-2002, 10:34 PM I would move to a new host in a heart beat. For a host to take that long to setup an account is pathetic.
NexDog 09-14-2002, 10:34 PM should ask for a refund?
Yea.
XtremepH 09-14-2002, 10:47 PM that is if i can get in contact with em.
ckpeter 09-14-2002, 11:31 PM I would be patient. It has only been two days - while two days of downtime is unacceptable, two days of setup delay/communication breakdown is teloratable. (no, I didn't say it is ok, but you should probably get an explanation from them).
Peter
Geek3 09-14-2002, 11:47 PM hmm.. i think it's unacceptable too. I dont mean to put you down ckpeter, but i do think it is. :-(
XtremepH, give them till Monday noon and then bail if no reply (that's giving them the benefit of the doubt). :-/

You put my thoughts in word.

Reptilian Feline 09-17-2002, 05:01 AM Maybe it's a weekend-bug?
Ultravox 09-17-2002, 05:09 AM Maybe it's a weekend-bug?

With his money :D
Reptilian Feline 09-17-2002, 05:32 AM Weekend-bug: Site down during weekend, then up again, then down during the weekend. Can't get hold of support during weekends.
Weekend-bug: all of the above during the week as well, ending your weekly site-updates.
XtremepH 09-17-2002, 06:52 AM still no replies to emails and i cancelled my subscription to there service. but now i need my money that i paid up front for this month's payment. i paid via paypal so i requested them refund me my money for such a poor service.
Jedito 09-17-2002, 06:56 AM Hmm.. there is a thread about it, If I'm not wrong, flying-hosts has been bought by interserver.net
When we were with them, we were not very happy with the response time. They even gave us a 10 minute response time guarantee ( later changed to 30 or 60 ) which was never honored. We were lucky to get a response in 12 hours. It was normally like 2 or 3 days sometimes upwards of a week. That is, if we even got a response at all. They kept blaming it on the ticket system, but I think that was just excuses.. as they seem to have had many excuses for many things.
MAX POWER 09-17-2002, 08:39 AM Perhaps they could set-up your hosting account: "On the Fly" ;)
All jokes aside, the time wait is inexcusable!

Same for me.. and no replies from the emails I send them! However, they billed me on time, just as normal
intellec 10-06-2002, 11:12 PM Why don't web hosts bill (charge) when activated????????
shapeshifter 10-07-2002, 03:15 PM Good luck on the paypal refund. I had a similar situation with another hosting company which I paid for via paypal. It was a pay for the whole year thing. (Won't do that again) And I got burned big time. No replies from the hosting company. Supposed 14 day guarantee. HAH.
Anyway, when I filed a complaint with paypal and requested a refund the response was very frustrating.
"As stated in our User Agreement, PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy only applies to the shipment of goods, not to disputes about the attributes or quality of goods received. Therefore, we cannot reverse this transaction or issue a refund. We encourage you to continue to work directly with the seller to amicably resolve this dispute." Like thats possible with no returned emails.
So don't expect a return of your money thru paypal. And supposedly, when you sign up with paypal you forfit the right for chargeback. Don't know about that yet as it is on my TODO list
Moral of the story - dont use paypal to pay for hosting services unless you are not worried about getting a refund.
