hi all, i transfered my domain to 1 and 1 (www.oneandone.co.uk) , domain registration only, and i am considering buying a reseller hosting plan from another host and need them to change name servers for my domain. they do not offer this function at control panel. however, they said they could not change DNS! they said i can cancel my account if i want.

what can i do??? is it normally i have to wait for 60 days to transfer my domain out? this really make me frustrated. i never thought this company wont even allow me to change dns.

what should i do???

1&1 are very new, as they are just a german hosting company expanding into britian... you have to wait 60 days to "transfer" your domain.

But you should be able to change your name servers any time you want to so there should be no problem with pointing your domain to your host, I dont have any personal experience with them so I dont know what their terms are.

But the general rule for domain registrations is not to register domains with a web hosting company and 1&1 is a web hosting company.

You should always register domains at a registrar only web site like ukreg, even though they are owned by fasthosts (web hosting company) they have a totally seperate division and web site for domain registrations.

thanks for your comments.

i just received a reply from them and they said they would like to help but it is a company policy to use only their name servers.
even if then change the nameservers for me , when they update the servers, the dns settings will be changed back to theirs?

are they joking?????? they seem not care about customers, and told me i can transfer my domain if you want.

i surely will after 60 days.

If I haven't got it wrong, your domain registration with them is probably part of a hosting deal, so you're made to stick with them for the term, right?

no, i just register the domain, no hosting at all.
