How many of you are using dual monitors?
I have a 19 " Samsung 955DF now but I'd love to get a 21" next year and do dual monitors.
Do you find it useful?

I've found dual monitors extremely useful indeed :)

I did have just one 17" and didn't think I'd require anything more until someone let me look after their monitor while they were away. As soon as they returned and took their monitor back (meaning I was back to just one) I went out and bought a 21" :)

I'd say its convenient for surfing the net (Email client in one monitor, browser in the other) but its very useful for dev work or design because Editplus can be open on one screen and the page you're working on open in the other.

I've got a cheap PCI card that I can pop in for a 2nd monitor...paid $5.00 , not the best graphics, but it works.

Radeon put out a nice card! I was looking at This one (http://amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=203). I can get it on newegg for around $85.00. It's a really nice card for the money.

incredibly useful. my db server has dual 17 inch monitors and i often plug a 2nd monitor in the back of the laptop. the servers uses a radeon ve , cheap (very much so i paid abot 40 bucks for mine) and cheerful dualhead. the gf4 on the main machine also supports it but i dont use it on that machine.

I'd never go back to a single monitor. I have dual 21" on a matrox G450. I love it.

I want the 24 inch Sony

That would be great for the cad work I do. Only problem is I'm just a little shy of the 2,200 dollars needed to buy it.

Could someone define other advantages of dual monitors please? I've always wondered what the main pros are for having them, since you've only got one set of eyes. Using one monitor you can just minimize the windows into the task bar and open them when you need it. So the point of dual monitors?

Video editing, Photoshop (and other graphic programs), website design (code in one monitor, see result in the other), etc.

The other point of dual monitors is that they look really cool! :D

Only problem is that sometimes you think the computer has crashed but the pointer is just on the other screen

i'd have to agree with the positive comments. i know when you have never used a dual monitor setup, you look at it and think "what a waste, why the hell would you need two monitors" but seriously you'll love it if you try it. you get so much extra screen real estate to spread your work out on and as others have suggested, it's great to have say code on one screen and the browser for testing in the other, or email in one and browser in the other...
