View Full Version : php configuration in reseller clients
latepenguin 12-16-2008, 10:24 AM php configuration in reseller clients
Hello all,
I've been thinking about buying a reseller account to host a few sites but I have a question before I get into one. I use to have use gatorhost (baby croc package). It came with a feature that allowed you to edit the php configuration via the cpanel. Is there a reseller hosting that does the same for the clients you add to the account? Or would they have to put php.ini files in every directory like many hosting providers I've seen?
These are the two I've had in mind. Do they support this feature?
InnoHosting
Crucial Paradigm
If not, any suggestions?
Thanks
late.

dazmanultra 12-16-2008, 10:50 AM If the host uses suPHP (or similar) then that's a good indication that you can set your own PHP configuration using a custom php.ini in the directory that you want it to apply to.

Can I set a custom php.ini per client that effects his/her whole account instead having them put a php.ini in every directory where ever needed?

Thats what I'm trying to avoid. I've had issues where the php.ini file had to be in every directory that needed a specific function.
Just want it to effect the clients whole account.

I'd highly doubt any host will allow you access to that, may I ask why you specifically want it ?

Yes with a host that uses suPHP you can create a custom php.ini in the directory you want with your own php configuration.

That's a page from the root WHM - no provider will give you that as a reseller, if you really need it then a managed VPS will be your only option.
In principle though, I see no reason why the control panel shouldn't give you something like what you're after (a per-client default php.ini with online editor) but I don't think it's a standard cPanel feature. Perhaps HG coded their own plugin to do it?

supportfacility 12-18-2008, 01:54 AM If you can manage it from the local domains php.ini for individual domains, having a frontend in WHM doesn't make any difference.
