View Full Version : Moniker DNS weirdness
Aorozco 12-15-2008, 05:46 PM Moniker DNS weirdness
Hi.
I have my main domain (.com) in a solarvps Vps, and the .com.mx in a jodohost system.
The Vanity ns1 and ns2 are targeted to solarvps And is registered in Moniker.
The .com is hosted in Jodohost.
The problem is ... around 180 Domains begin to resolve to jodohost and no to solarvps, then look as a problem with the ns in moniker. A ping show me the ip address of jodohost.
No changes in Domain last month.
Emergency procedure, i edit my domain for target all in solarvps.
Strange.

Aorozco 12-16-2008, 09:29 AM I open a ticket in Moniker with the Tag CRITICAL.
Near 24 horus later, no notice.
I manage to solve myself in a weird way (involved a redirections in jodohost)..
Maybe you remember i am a strong supporter of Moniker for Domain Owners. Now, with this , i plan to move 2 domains OUT , because they are critical to my business.
My two ideas are Omnis and SRSPLUS.
I update when Moniker update... if update!

craider 12-16-2008, 12:04 PM We are on the same boat. Moniker may be one of the most secure registrars (I signed up with them since I've seen a lot of positive feedback here), but their support is not good.
Tickets need at least 6 hours to be answered, and if answered, pray that they didn't send you a template reply from their knowledgebase. It would have been good had the template answer actually answered your question, but most of the time it's as if they just scanned your question for keywords and sent a reply that they think matched up to the keywords most. It's as if they don't even read your questions properly. And if the answer don't happen to satisfy you, you reply to the ticket and wait another set of at least 6 hours to be replied on.
After only a few weeks with them, I can say that Moniker is best if you are basically buying and selling domains, and I think the company is really geared to that side of the business. I'm just waiting for the 60-day restriction to be lifted on some of my domains and I'll be off to other more technically-competent registrar soon.
RossH 12-16-2008, 04:30 PM Try DynaDot, DomainIT, Internet.bs, NameCheap, all have been helpful.

Aorozco 12-18-2008, 12:00 PM I Receive an unhelpful response NEXT day, around 36 hours later. I go to migrate the two domains out Today, but dont decide where.
My candidates are Omnis, gkg (6.95 transfers and very secure) and srsplus.

Spirit 12-18-2008, 09:58 PM After seevast sold Moniker to oversee.net on beginning of this year, there's more and more complains about Moniker support. I wondering if this is really connected.

I really would appreciate if you would update us with where you would transfer your domain to. I'm likewise looking for a secure AND technically competent registrar. I'm looking at Gandi.net (more expensive but so far good reviews) though I'm still looking around.
Aorozco 01-07-2009, 02:43 PM Was OMNIS.
They have some of the more professional guys and look. I think maybe in the future pass to them around 200 domains for the special price ( are the domains no related to me , but one big customer )
