CaroNet-Hesham 09-14-2002, 05:28 AM Ghost,
I've checked the other sites you mentioned, and I'm sure of them are quite execellent, but they're not offering the amount of Bandwidth I need..why is $99.7 uptime bad?
WebHosts...I wanna pay $30 a month, with 1GB of space..how much Bandwidth can I get for that, included that I get Frontpage 2002, SSL..you know..the works :)
I've been hosting virtually till now, so I don't know what having 10 dedicated IPs mean..but I guess the more the better..

You get what you pay for. There are so many variables with the way a host sets their prices. Type of servers - which datacanter the servers are housed in. Basically, the cheaper the accounts and the more resources you promise each account, the more accounts you need per server to make money from the server. If a host was promising 50GB data transfer/mth for $29.95/mth, then they'd need at least 40 of those accounts on the server to make a reasonable income.
That's 40 folks thinking they can use 50GB data transfer/mth. At 100% utilisation [ok, this never happens], that server would be pushing 2000GB data transfer/mth. Depending on the type of server, that's not a stable environment. High loads etc. So that host is overselling the server to the hilt and hoping that folks only use a small % of their 50GB/mth allotted data transfer.
why is $99.7 uptime bad?
99.7% uptime is actually pretty good. Not too many hosts can boast that amount of uptime.

Here's a general rule - the more you pay for your account, the more stable the service will be. If you're fixated with getting a 50GB data transfer for $30/mth, then you're basically going to get low quality services. Like everything in life, you get what you pay for. :)

That means 5 hours/month you're absent. Why do you choose them when you can get less. :D :D
I don't know your needs but I think 15 GBs quite good for 1 GB.

I mean normally, unwaited sudden deads will be up the time.
CaroNet-Hesham 09-14-2002, 05:53 AM Aussie Bob:
So, since you're at httpme.com, how much bandwidth can YOU offer me if I'm willing to pay $30 using 1GB of Space?
vox-fred 09-14-2002, 06:00 AM Aussie Bob cannot answer that question here as it would break the WHT rules, instead you should email or pm him.
Or check out his website, he probably has prices listed there.
CaroNet-Hesham 09-14-2002, 06:05 AM vox-fred,
Thanks Fred, It's my first day here..didn't know that :) sorry
vox-fred 09-14-2002, 06:07 AM No Problem
