I have heard bad about there reseller plans but nothing about there shared hosting. kunal 03-24-2001, 12:08 AM how about doing a search (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php)? something would surely come up.. the last i heard, they were having some major problems.. SnoTurtle 03-24-2001, 01:51 AM I have been with liquidweb for 18 months, they used to be great, answering support emails in 15min, little or no downtime... everything changed in the last 4 months, down once a week, for hours at a time, support takes a week to get a reply, i cant wait to get off there servers! If i were you, i would look elsewhere... i think liquid web stuffs too many people to a box, and grew to fast. Martie 03-24-2001, 02:02 AM Heres a huge list right here at WHT. It might be of more help to post what features you are looking for in a host. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=3053 Haakon 03-24-2001, 06:46 AM I think the "a week to reply" was very exaggerated. You will usually get the reply well within 24hours (sometimes just a few hours). On weekends it can take more than 24 hours. Jag 03-24-2001, 11:32 AM And the downtime for liquidweb...well I would be willing to bet that was a problem with VDI in some form. They have had problems recently with MCI and Level3. SnoTurtle 03-24-2001, 03:31 PM "a week to reply" is not exaggerated at all., its been 10 days and i havent recived a reply, i have put in 4 support tickets in the last week, no repies to any of them. As for the server, im on Godzilla, i think its the oldest server they have (i have been with them for over 18 months). Yes, i know all about the MCI / Level3 / VDI outtage, that was fine, not there fault. Its the fact that my site goes down atleast once a week, for a hour or so at a time, the highest uptime i have seen on the server is 6 days in the last 4 months, i remember when i first hosted with them i would have uptimes of 30+ days... I used to love there support & service, however everything has gone to crap in the last 4 months. Haakon 03-24-2001, 07:12 PM Sorry to hear that SnoTurtle. They don`t treat me like that and the server has a good enough uptime chart; 23 days now. I would have left them myself if they had treated me in the way they treat you and your site. Yesterday they finnished four tickets (followups), each within half an hour. It depends very much on when I write to them as they haven`t got 24/7 support. William 03-27-2001, 01:18 AM Not to cut down any other host. Liquidweb is one of VDI longest hosted clients. They may have been VDI's 3rd - 5th client 4 years ago. The liquidweb team has never lost a client to VDI because they dropped the ball. I may have less then 20 helpdesk tickets from the liquidweb team, this shows they can support thier user base. The size of liquidweb's client base is incredible, and well tuned. I have recomended co-lo / dedicated and Virtal accounts to all my Hosted Hosting companies in house. I can honestly say, i have not seen any regret in doing that. I enjoy seeing a company come in and say, "how the hell can i compete in this buisness" well 20 - 30 servers later i`m sure now they can answer thier own questions. VDI based hosting companies have the tools to succeed and do very well "money wise". The last several weeks have been rough "due to VDI own Network failure" We have no one to blame but VDI, we are very very very very upset about the downtime and the heat our clients have to withstand" damaged reputations and having to explain that it`s not in thier control. VDI is however happy to see clients get right back on track and the next day getting orders again. So if you have a problem with a hosting company, just pick up the phone and call them. 98% of the time, i`m sure you will remedy the problem right away.. |
