Web Hosting Talk

View Full Version : Dot5Hosting.com a little slow to respond.

Based partially on recommendations on WebHostingTalk, I went ahead and purchased the Dot3 plan -- $149 a year, $30 to register my domain, 15GB/Month bandwidth, 500MB space. Database, etc. Good price, good service, on the face of it.

They charged my credit card on Wednesday, $179.99, and sent me e-mail saying that I'd receive my account info & dedicated IP address within 24 hours. That was 46 hours ago. I've exchanged e-mail with Tony Kammerer (tony@dot5hosting.com) today, so far with no results.

I'll follow up here and let you know how this resolves.

30.00 for a domain  I hope it was .com, .net, .org for 1 year... lol.

Best of luck in the future though.

I am sorry to hear that about Dot5, I personally didn't care for their service. I know others that are happy with them though. I would advise anyone not to pay for more then 3 months of service, too many hosts go under these days.

No, it was just .com for 2 years, $15 a year.

Just asked when I could expect to see my account activated. Sent them the info I was sent + auth code I received when my credit card was charged (by WorldPay.) Their guy said they showed no payment had been made; their billing service sent me a confirmation # and it shows up on my credit card.

Hi............I am a dot5 customer........for about 2 and a half months..and have never had anything but quick response ...I do know there seems to be a problem with (worldpay) at the moment .........it seems to be giving erroneous dates on the billing and I was having trouble accessing worldpay to make payments

I am certain they will get this resolved for you...........
They are a standup host in my opinion

I was with them for a whole week.
Found them to be somewhat hard to find.
Down time right off the bat.
Waiting for someone to pop in on MSN.

You seem to go through a lot of host. Do you ever find one you like? :D

Everything appears to be resolved. Tony Kammerer had me go through the signup again (stopping just short of the payment screen) -- and then he upgraded me for free to the Dot4 plan (I paid for Dot3) ... and I now have access to my site, though my DNS hasn't propagated yet. Glitch aside, whatever it was, I'm perfectly happy with the resolution and Tony's efforts.

1. I have a lot of domains.(100 plus)
2. Got a good one now.
3. I do work for others and sometimes it is not my domain.
4. As a domain grows, if it's current host cannot supply what I need---gone.
5. Some hosts have given me free hosting to try them out.
6. I also have a server for my xxxx domains in my office.
