main server was hacked, reseller account affected

Hi,
The main server of our hosting provider was hacked, our reseller account affected.
All of our sites hosted in our reseller account were use for phishing.
Can I still trust our hosting provider?
Im planning to cancel our account w/ them, any advise?

Did you ask them how it was hacked? Did they provide you some information?

They told me that:
"it was hacked through our blog system. We have now fully restored the site and it is working fine."

You can also ask them what actions have they taken so this does not happen again.

Do they have only one server to host their website and customer's websites?

It was the VPS node that was hacked. Not the complete server.
And only one of your accounts was used for phishing scams.
Also the accounts are being transferred over to a new server as we speak.

Restoring the site that was already hacked isn't fixing anything permanently. Whatever was found vulnerable might still be there unless it was also updated/fixed at the same time.

No one even knew his host until just now.

The hack was fixed on both the node and the accounts before they were restored.
I new this was one of our customers because he used exact same wording in the support ticket as he did here. Instead of sorting it out through a ticket and with support staff it looks like he wanted to have a winge as well

IMO, he did not even intend to reveal his host, and just seeking opinion on if he should stay. Why is your reaction so...

Is he trying to be "proactively defensive"?

On that note, folks if you leave the windows to your house open, then the thieves will come in an help themselves to anything they like. Your web hosting account is much like an apartment, you leave the windows unlocked, then you're going to get robbed eventually even if you live in a gated community (the gate being mod_security, etc.).
How is that for an analogy?
