Now he hasn't replied to my emails. It's pretty sad someone has to rip you off for $20.00.
changed topic due to some momo's not happy with it
Akash 09-13-2002, 03:36 PM wat was the domain? who'd you buy it from? and how did you pay?
edit: nevermind i clicked the link this time
SoftWareRevue 09-13-2002, 03:39 PM I think you should edit the thread title. :(
It's a very small percentage of members that fit that profile.

ya very true....it makes us (WHT) look bad to newbies...
....and plus, most of the hosts/companies that rip people off aren't members here (anymore)
jayjay 09-13-2002, 03:54 PM Most of you aren't the people that I would want to business with, but if a mod comes across the post. They can change the topic, I forgot I can't. :( I tried though..
But a good percentage of you are quality people, I think. But some of you.. I wonder.. : )
flashgear 09-13-2002, 04:59 PM WHT contains some 20K + members ... why badmouth all of them ? fro the fault of one
jayjay 09-13-2002, 05:02 PM Because alot of those members do rip people off in some way or another, but we can change the topic if the mods see.
I've been ripped off by 5 WHT members so far, and it's getting pretty lame.
But... I do see that there are tons of members as I have been active for awhile now and all of them aren't so bad.
mind21_98 09-13-2002, 05:25 PM Contacting the BBB (Better Business Bureau) usually gets rid of the most evil of the ripper-offers (?) from your list of hosts. :D
Chicken 09-13-2002, 07:19 PM User has been contacted and now knows he must resolve this issue in order to continue to post ads on the forum.

You could use the stuff on one of those horrible nasty banned hosts. :D
jayjay 09-13-2002, 07:40 PM Ok Ok..
I'll exchange a bently of your choice for those feathers and the tar.
I'll even throw in a crazy person that lives next door to me if you want?
Thanks though. :)

pgrote 09-13-2002, 10:12 PM The Chicken Collection Service.
Chicken 09-13-2002, 11:36 PM Heh nooooo... I won't try to collect or even mediate anything (though I have before and I prefer not to), however I won't let people post offers, flake, and then continue to post offers. One needs to supply the product/service offered.
This pertains to WHT offers only, what people do off-board is too much for one Chicken to take care of ;)

dynamitehost 09-14-2002, 04:08 AM I am not a rip off. In fact, Its absurd that anyone would accuse me of stealing a measly $20!
The domain registrar has been assuring me that they will change the password, but it doesn't look like that will happen.
Money shall be refunded.
dynamitehost 09-14-2002, 04:21 AM Also, jayjay, something you might want to consider...
You never once said you were getting impatient and you were going to start on a mission to make me/my company look bad so hastily.
In fact, the reason your emails weren't responded to was that you were sending me 2 or 3 emails every day which I replied to them all to start with, but then it started to become a real bore and I decided I would email you when I recieved the login info.
Please understand I have to provide support for my customers as well as getting your domain on line.

Please understand I have to provide support for my customers as well as getting your domain on line. If you quit reading his emails, how do you know he didn't state his position? Or; did you read the emails, and simply not respond?
I'm not trying to flame you. Only trying to help you avoid a similar conflict.
dynamitehost 09-14-2002, 06:14 AM I read his emails, I just don't have the time to respond to them all.
Anyway the pathetic amount of money which "i stole" has been refunded.
Please close this thread.
dynamitehost 09-14-2002, 06:16 AM Also, software revue, I did tell him that I was waiting for the registrar to reset the password.
But I suppose that is not good enough and I am now branded a thief? Oh Thanks.
sitekeeper 09-14-2002, 06:36 AM :emlaugh: HOST looses password
dynamitehost 09-14-2002, 08:38 AM erm, whats so funny about that?
Its a domain I haven't even used and it had a password which I was told, but didnt have chance to note down...
Chicken 09-14-2002, 12:00 PM Issue resolved...
EDIT: Thread will remain open until issue is resolved. Jayjay hasn't gotten domain or refund, just yet, but will update the thread when he does and then thread will be locked.

mmm..
Aug 30th
Response.
Aug 31st
I answered and responsed.
Sept 4th
I asked if there was any word. No response.
Sept 10th
I ask again. No response. (Notice the big gap in days here..)
Sept 12th
I ask again, because after this long with no response. I start to get angry that someone would be stupid about $20.00.
Sept 13th
I decide to post a thread, to get an answer.
NOTE: I have the headers. I do keep good records of my emails.
Don't tell me that I'm going to sit here and email you two times a day or more. I do not have the time. I attend college full time, and I work 55+ hours a week. Not to mention the animals that I take care of, and my woman.
Good business ethics, when you don't want to answer a customer you just let the issue sit there until you want to answer?
Also, software revue, I did tell him that I was waiting for the registrar to reset the password.
But I suppose that is not good enough and I am now branded a thief? Oh Thanks.
These issues normally do not take 14 days+. You are branded a thief when you choose not to respond for such a long period of time.
You never once said you were getting impatient and you were going to start on a mission to make me/my company look bad so hastily.
It takes about 30 seconds to respond to an e-mail? How long did it take you to respond? 14 days? You do the math on how bad that looks, and I bet you could fit that 30 seconds into your day. If I can.. you can.
jayjay 09-14-2002, 01:40 PM Please understand I have to provide support for my customers as well as getting your domain on line.
Please note what I do, which I said above. I'm not saying I'm a god or anything, but come on.. You can fit some time in your day to email some people, heck even call. Might take about 5 minutes a day at the MOST. I would suspect 1 minute or less though.
dynamitehost 09-14-2002, 01:58 PM Ok, jayjay, I admit I was wrong not to respond, but I never set out to rip you off by any amount of money.
Also, Chicken, I have sent a refund (paypal).
jayjay 09-14-2002, 02:01 PM Ok, jayjay, I admit I was wrong not to respond, but I never set out to rip you off by any amount of money.
In the future you will know to respond then. Please to not tell me that I emailed you 2x a day, when we were figuring things out in the first part, there were a few emails exchanged. But when two people are doing business that's how it goes. But after that I did not bother you to a level where you could not respond to me. I was just looking for an answer.
If you get the domain password. Contact me.
Also, Chicken, I have sent a refund (paypal).
I don't see any confirmation on this. Paypal might be slow though.
SoftWareRevue 09-14-2002, 02:04 PM I thought PayPal was quick about those things.
Ok call me dumb, but . . .
How can other people sell domains, and this guy not be able to?
Was it too complicated?
hmmmmm, maybe he got a better offer?
dynamitehost 09-14-2002, 02:25 PM No, I didn't get a better offer.
Check the domain whenever you want, its always going to be there untill it runs out, because it seems the registrar isn't going to change the password after all.
Also, I did give a refund a couple of hours ago.... I'm happy for some I can absolutely trust i.e Chicken to have a look in my paypal account at the transaction history as my balance isn't that much anyway as I now use a different cc processor.
I've not sold a domain, yet I see others doing it all the time.
I just can't imagine not being able to transfer ownership when everyone else seems to be so successful.
dynamitehost 09-14-2002, 02:56 PM If you haven't sold a domain, please don't make comments like that.
SoftWareRevue 09-14-2002, 02:57 PM I've sold plenty of them.
What is the name of the registrar I should avoid if I want to sell more?

dynamitehost 09-14-2002, 03:41 PM What does that have to do with the domain name or this topic in general?
jayjay 09-14-2002, 03:52 PM This is f-uck.net not f u c k.net <no spaces>
UH-Matt 09-16-2002, 06:30 AM Dynamite, you should have let me know of this instance, i know gyron.net and they wouldnt just NOT change a pass... Ill have a word with one of there tech support and see what i can do for you.
dynamitehost 09-16-2002, 11:01 AM Matt, I PMed you about it... but I guess you didnt recieve it or overlooked it...
They said they won't change if for me because I couldn't prove I was the owner

So if matt is the registrant, why can't he just transfer it over?
SoftWareRevue 09-16-2002, 07:22 PM Strange, indeed.
UH-Matt 09-17-2002, 02:59 AM LOL.. i sold this domain to dynamite about a 2 weeks ago.
I GAVE him the user and pass for opensrs to go and move it himself... but he decided t change the pass.. and forget it ...
so he contacted the registrar which is where this whole mess started..
So me .. "Matt Wallis" does not have much to do with this.. other than im gonna try and help him out because i happen to know the registrar.
SoftWareRevue 09-17-2002, 03:09 AM And you are the listed registrant. Shouldn't be too hard then. :)
dynamitehost 09-17-2002, 01:08 PM Matt, thanks for the help.
I have refunded jayjay his money, so I would be grateful if this thread was closed so that Matt and I can get this sorted out privately.
Thanks :)
SoftWareRevue 09-17-2002, 01:53 PM I'll bet on Chicken waitin for Jason to say something like that.

Hi there.
I am the Managing Director of Gyron Internet Ltd.
I wouldn't normally disclose any emails sent to or from us, however in the interest of resolving this argument and clearing our name I will make an exception.

Hello,
I recently bought a domain off of a friend which was purchased from you (apparently).
I've forgotten what I changed the password to, the domain is "f-uck.net".
Please let me know what steps to take to get the password or get it reset.
Thanks,
Fred Harrington

Hi Fred,
Thanks for the email.

Could you get the original owner of the domain name to email us and
confirm that the password should be reset please?

Hello,
Shouldn't be a problem to do that.
Thanks
We have not had a reply from Fred, or from the original owner of the domain name.
As I'm sure you're all aware, it would be utterly irresponsible of us to give out usernames and passwords to manage domain names to anyone that emails us saying they've just bought it.
I will be happy to provide copies of the full emails, including headers and helpdesk tracking logs to anyone that needs to see them.
Message to Fred: as soon as the original owner emails us to authorise us to release the admin details to you, as we requested, we will release the admin contacts to you.
If anyone has any queries on this matter, please don't hesitate to contact me on my personal email address: robin@gyron.net.
Regards,
Robin Balen
Director,

I re-read the thead and now agree with him when he says he over reacted. I was about to commend robinbalen on his post until I got to the part about the demand to delete it.
I have a right to read. I read a heck of a lot more than I post. And I'll continue to do so.
This forum is a great wealth of information. Some of which can be found in this thread. It would be shamefull to delete it.
This thead isn't sorted out until Jason gets his domain or his money. That's what started it after all.
anywho . . . . .
UH-Matt 09-17-2002, 03:31 PM lol i didnt mean to sound so rude, I just think people shouldnt keep bumping the post to the top seeing as
1. Jason DID get his money.
2. The domain situation has been rectified.
robinbalen 09-17-2002, 03:45 PM SoftWareRevue, thanks for your kind comments.
It is this comment that worried me:
What is the name of the registrar I should avoid if I want to sell more?
After re-reading through the thread, I accept that i did over-react, and I have edited my post accordingly.
Again, if Fred would like to contact me off list, please email me and I will do what I can to get the situation resolved.
Thanks.
SoftWareRevue 09-17-2002, 03:52 PM Ahh, I understand. Another failed attempt at sarcasm on my part. I only wanted Fred to reveal the name of the registrar so others could explain why the password wouldn't be changed. You have to remember, through most of this, he gave us no reason to believe that he was not the registrant of the domain. Had he made that clear earlier, we certainly would have told him that there is no way a registrar is going to allow him to change the password on an account when he is not the registrant of the domain.
and untill JayJay, posts that he is happy with the refund instead of the domain, there is no closure.
It wasn't loooking good for gyron, but then a simple dig brought out the truth. Of course they shouldn't be emailing a password to any person that says they bought a domain from somebody. That would be rediculous.
dynamitehost 09-17-2002, 04:23 PM There isn't anything anyone has said that I didn't know already.
Softwarerevue, I don't need your advice, so please don't even offer it.
This matter has nothing to do with anyone except for myself, UH-Matt, Jayjay and Gyron Internet. In fact, I don't think it regards jayjay anymore considering he has been reimbersed.
I will no longer post on this subject on these forums in public.
Samuel 09-17-2002, 04:40 PM Then ya should have taken care of business spoke.
(In a wheel)
SoftWareRevue 09-17-2002, 04:40 PM Strange that Jason was posting an hour or so ago, yet neglected to address this thread.
I say, Shame on you jayjay! Shame on you for getting your money and not updating this!
I don't recall giving you advice, Fred. Not to worry, I won't.
robinbalen 09-17-2002, 04:49 PM It wasn't loooking good for gyron, but then a simple dig brought out the truth. Of course they shouldn't be emailing a password to any person that says they bought a domain from somebody. That would be rediculous.
Thanks for confirming that I haven't gone completely mad ;)
I won't post any further on this matter unless I hear from anyone involved.
jayjay 09-17-2002, 08:18 PM Either way, he has reimbursed the funds.
I've told him before if he wishes to actually sell the domain in the future, he can contact me. I will deal with him in a prompt manner as I have done, and maybe he will deal with me in a prompt manner.
Case closed. *bangs hammer thingy on desk*
Chicken 09-17-2002, 08:41 PM And with that... *shuts door*
