I just signed up for burstnet and it has been nothing but problems. Apparently my server was setup for about a week and nobody told me, no phone call, no email.

Now the 2nd day I have access to my server it is down. Their DNS,BGP, etc is all down.

This is what i got from them on AIM, Hopefully they should be back up soon ...

BurstNET: Major power outage across whole city. Unfortunately we are performing huge power upgrades/install today at same time. More info soon. Electricians working on situation now to restore emergency power. PPL (PA Power Company) states city-wide power restore in 3-4 hours. Our electricians should have us up sooner. Check back shortly for any updates.

Wow. Good thing that a computer doesn't require power, or else it would be _really_ difficult to get on AIM to talk to clients. Also, it's a good thing (if they do have battery or generator backup) that they're taking the time to surf the net and access AIM. After all, you do need breaks from fixing those pesky power outages.

Well, Sean has stated that he plans to address our questions, so since that's all I've asked for quite some time now, I plan to give him the chance to do so. He's taking a positive step so let's not jump on him or be sarcastic until we hear what he has to say.

I ran home to attend to online client inquiries.
We couldn't do such from the NOC during the incident. This was the best course of action to handle online support during this time...and we wanted to make someone was online to answer questions, and keep client updated.

Why does burst always have so many problems when other providers have few to none?

This is not meant to be aggressive, just a query as my server is in a burst centre.

Sean, that was a good move imo...(although I've seen many times when a support guy was on aim until I ask about network problems, yet the network was down?)

And I did notice that as opposed to previous times there was someone on AIM the whole time, responding to questions, no running away which is a good step in the right direction, thank you...Can a dial up connection for AIM within the NOC solve the problem of you having to run home next time?

I am encouraged by the way you are handling this situation now and hope we can go back to some stability like we had before the recent spate of trouble.

Their last outage was blamed on power problems. Again, what happened to the backup power generators automatically taking over?

I'm sure SWR still will recommend them though. :)

Hmmmmm... Yes, i thought we set standards as an industry to resolve this with power backups.. THIS SHOULD NEVER be an issue (acts of God are reasonable).. but wow.
