View Full Version : Edge-Host.com Email Problems. Anyone else have them?
CW WTF? 09-13-2002, 11:57 AM I'm not trying to bash anyone (yet), but I haven't been able to check my email for 2 1/2 days on Edge-host. I'm curious if this is just my problem or if this is happening to anyone else? It authenticates my username/password but just always tells me I have no email.
I'm on their Cpanel AMD3 server.
Techs keep telling me it will be fixed soon, but it never is.
I'm thinking it might just be my problem and thats why they arn't trying to fix it ASAP.
Despite this problem, Edge-host has been EXCELLENT! Great support and lots of features for a great price. I would highly recomend them.

Layzee 09-13-2002, 12:01 PM I'm on the same server and haven't had any problems with e-mail... somtimes it can be a bit slow for me, or maybe that's cause I'm on dialup :bawling: ....
Are you checking your mail through webmail or through an e-mail program like Outlook?
And I agree support and features have been great... just waiting for their forums to come back up... :)
CW WTF? 09-13-2002, 12:07 PM I use Outlook express. But I also tried their webmail. No luck. I tried creating a new email account and I have sent out multiple emails to myself, but no luck.
When I first told Alec, he acknoledged there was a problem with the mail que, but when I talked to the CEO he said he never heard of there being a problem.
Not sure whats going on. Maybe it is just my problem.

CW WTF? 09-13-2002, 12:14 PM Yeah, it worked perfectly fine untill 2 1/2 days ago. I didn't change anything and it just stopped working.

Layzee 09-13-2002, 12:25 PM If you haven't gotten anyone else to check one of your e-mail accounts from their end, send me an e-mail at jp[at]whotek.com (I'm sure you have another e-mail address available?) and if you want, I can see if one of your accounts works on my end. Just be sure to create a "test" account if you would like me to do so.
Let's see if we can figure out whether the problem is on your end or EH's...

Layzee 09-13-2002, 12:58 PM Well I just checked the account with the info you provided and no luck here..
I tried it out in Outlook Express and you are right, no e-mail coming through.. it authenticates the account fine, but no e-mail is coming through.. I sent an e-mail myself to test@blackflare.com and CC to another e-mail account of mine on EH and while I did get the e-mail at my account, it did not come through on yours.
I also checked through webmail and no messages are there either...
I did notice that I got a Mailer-Daemon e-mail saying that it could not deliver the email to your test account, althought it did go through fine to one of my accounts on EH (same server).
Sorry I couldn't help fix the problem... I'm on the same server checking e-mail with two different domains, but it works fine for me... I'm sure the best thing to do is see what EH says...
CW WTF? 09-13-2002, 01:02 PM Thats interesting that you get it bounced back. I haven't even got that when I send my emails. Yeah, hopefully they will fix this problem soon. Thanks for your help again!
CW WTF? 09-13-2002, 01:50 PM Well, I think i figured it out.
A couple weeks ago I enabled "Spam Assasin"
It worked fine.
Just for the hell of it I disabled "Spam Assasin" and now I can receive emails. The only thing that REALLY sucks is I lost all my emails for the last 2 1/2 days. There was some important ones in there too!
I just wonder why all the sudden it would make it so I cant receive any emails?? I didn't change anything.
phpcoder 09-13-2002, 02:33 PM The easiest thing to do is notify us of any problems as quickly as possible. We were just notified of some issues, and are working on fixing the problem now.

The_Head 09-13-2002, 10:28 PM I am having the exact same problem. I e-mailed Alec and support this morning, but it is still not resolved. The really bad thing about the problem is that until somebody told me that an e-mail was bounced, I had no idea. It seemed to functioning properly. The person that told me about it was a prospective employer trying to contact me for a second interview. Thank god he was persistent. Any ETA on this edge-host? I can't get to the forum or help desk. Please don't let this be Cyberwings revisited- the wounds are just too fresh.

The_Head 09-13-2002, 10:58 PM Funny, I had to come here to find out how to fix the problem-hours after I reported it to edge-host. Yet, I was told that it would be resolved ASAP. Are you reading this guys- disabling "spam assasin" is the workaround. Let us know when it is fixed.
