If you can let me know what server you are on, if possible through our helpdesk, i can tell you :) But most servers have 80+ days uptime and we'ce had no network problems for months.

There is a major outage at Scranton City. I believe Burst are restoring backup power now to their DC although I haven't heard anything about an ETA.

Since a few minutes yes, but if you check our announcements page (PM me if you don't have the URL), you'll see it announced and all the updates. Note that only 8 out of 90 of our servers are down, due to a problem at the data center.

But the UPS kicked in and then the backup generator.. right? :D

We have had some problems with our main site, but none with our Reseller Servers. They have been online, with no problems.

The reason our site was down was because it is not on our reseller servers, but with another web host.

I hope this clears things up.

Thanks
Sean

We currently have 7 servers left at the BurstNET data center, but are migrating all customers out into the new data center one by one. All new clients are being set-up in the new data center since almost 6 months.

You had 8 servers down and that mean 1000's of web sites are down how can you explain that?

If the network is down.. there is very little he can do.. but explain that "the network is down" "Because of.." - Not his fault.

Same as most providers.. they supply the servers, sysadmins, support staff - The DC supplies the connectivity...

Yes, Samuel - but remember, moving a server properly is a VERY COMPLEX process that must be done over time so everything goes well. 1-year (or more) for MCHost to accomplish any task PROPERLY is just about right.

<end of sarcasm>

Nah - takes much longer than that.
C'mon cgrey, they are doing it PROPERLY!

Every one of those bytes on each hard disk is lovingly transcribed onto a stone tablet by master craftsmen, then shipped to the new data center, and tenderly copied onto the pristine disk surface of the new server.

bout 50 to 100 years would be about right - It's hard to get the craftsmen you know!.

I love that and will remember it when I need to move my 50+ servers (if I ever get that many).

Burst must've given MCHost permission to use their excuses. :)
It's strange how MCHost can be down for over an hour, and MCHOST (Kiwi) says they've had no problems or a server only blinked.

At the time of the post, no server was down. Sorry, i can't go into the future and check what happens into the next minutes or hours. This outage has been announced through our status page/archives/mailing list to all clients.

Before accusing us of handling server moves the wrong way, build your own business with almost 100 servers and you'll see that it looks a little different than from a company's view with only 2-3 servers.

We may be migrating the older (or first) servers slower than other companies would, but we're not losing any data or causing downtime as would most probably happen with a 'mass move'.

What's wrong with moving clients ony-by-one and checking each of their accounts to make sure permissions are right and sql databases are functioning properly with the correct permissions?

Have a great day :)

It will be done shortly® eh?

You can word it anyway you want kiwi dude, it's stalling ahhaha.

10 dedicated support personel could have moved 10 dedicated servers in 4 months without loss, downtime, frogs blowing up etc.

Yoouuuuuu movvveeee vvveeeerryyyyy sllloooowwwwlllllyyyy.,...

You've been saying this move from burst is happening 'as soon as possible' since you had 20 servers (way back in April of this year). You've had time to put 70+ new servers up, but not move 8? What's wrong with this picture??
