Domain Disaster -

Hi Everyone,
I set up a music software website a year ago (registered with NameCheap) - and have been getting a couple of thousand visits a day. Although NameCheap sent me spam about renewing my 'whoisguard' protection I ignored it, because they never sent me anything about my domain renewal. Well surprise - I guess I registered it last night a year ago, and today I have a generic spam/crap site parked on my domain. When I log into Namecheap it tells me that I have no site. When I look up the whois of the new site, I get the address of whoisguard.
Hmm... Did whoisguard KNOW that my site was expiring and grab the domain? Is there anything I can do about this? I feel like I've wasted a lot of time.
Cheers,
Crispin

You need to reactivate the expired domain. You will have that option in your account.

Hi,
Thanks for the help -
I discovered the reactivate option hidden away in a little corner of namecheap... I'm glad it's there, but they seriously didn't make it simple for me by not reminding me, making 'reactivating' unobvious and not letting me read on the 'spam' page or whois that they were the ones 'holding' the webpage. Their web support was helpful, however.
Cheers,
Crispin
