View Full Version : I am ready!

I think I have a great start compare to what others have had.

I already have 1 customer that gives me enough money to pay the internet connection.

Now, I have a few questions to you others who allready run a successful busniess! Im starting in Sweden so dont you worry!

Should I go with Rack servers in the begining?
Cause, im going to offer co-location. If so, what Rack should I go for?

Is there a cpnale that works for both windows2k and Unix/Linux?

Firewall, what should I use? I prefer something cheap that i can customchange myself!

What should i pay extra for when it comes to servers?
Extra RAM and fast SCSII? And ofcourse processors!

Mmm, what else is there to ask... :-)

Ohhh, were going to offer bandwith to homes and companies!
So my question is, what kind of extra equipment do I need?
Is there any good program which track all the bandwith that every IP use?

thanks, johan

I am not trying to burst your bubble but.....

I think you should start off with a Reseller account or 1 server before you start offering co-location. It sounds like you have a lot to learn yet.

As for a control panels go Ensim and H-Sphere work good with Linux & Windows.

Its 1 mbit/s.
Whats good about is that its 99.9% uptime!

And...What they do is they check the usage over a day.
I can use 1.5 mbit on the day, because more ppl use internet then and get more hits, but at nighttime, my bandwith will be lowered.

I dont know how to explain it in english.
But what they do is they calculate how much bandwith ive used on a day, and it should be equal to 1 mbit because thats what im hiring.

We already have 4 customers now, all of em covers the bandwith and...some other costs.

There is no point of starting a reseller now, when we will grow fast. None here can compete with our prices.
Amen to that.

why don't find a local data center for your co-location ?
You may consider become a rack shack reseller.

But in fact, you just start your business. It is time for you to find more client . After you have a client based, then you can consider more.

Weve solved this on the best possible way.
What we do is, we run a few websites that dont take much of our time.
For example, hockey.se (hockey is the no1 sport in sweden), webcams.se and a few other websites, where we advertise for us.

And in the local papers, customers wont be hard to get since our prices is the best. In Sweden that is.

That's what happens when you post it here :)

BTW is 1 Mb/s going to be enough if you're planning to host more than a few busy sites?

Rick2k, 1 mbit is good enough in the beginging.
1 mbit is 800 dollar, 2 mbit is 1100!

But ill wait with 2 for about 2-3 months!

But, I can use more then 1mbit on the days since its 1 mbit total use over 24 hours that counts :)

ppl dont use much at nights :)
