I have a server hosted with Port 80 Comunications. I used to be with ACS Datanet. Port 80 bought them out. Anyway.

The server went down on Monday at around 4:30PM EST and
it is now Thursday Morning and it is still down.

Is this normal, or am I with the wrong company.

Also I call there technical Support and I always get an answering machine. Is this normal, or am I screwed.:( :( :(

3 days downtime is not normal at any rate. Did you email them ?

I emailed them but there site is also down so I think there mail
is down too.

I keep getting an answering machine when I call there tech support line so I tried connecting to the sales department and left a message on some guys answerig machine to call me back and tell me what is going on.

Needless to say I'm dropping these guys like a hot potato.
But what a hassle to move. I hate it.

I can't believe this.

I asked them what the problem was and I get a reply back from them
with no explanation of the problem. Just one line typed.
"We need your root password?"

My server is not the problem. It's the network connection
to my server that's the problem. Even there web site is down.

What a bunch of nonsense.

Let me just put it this way... I would be irrate after 3 hours of downtime... but 3 days ???

If I was down for 3 days, i would already have moved my equipment elsewhere. 3 days is unacceptable by any standards.

their webserver seems pingable, although their website isn't up...

port 80 is down ?

it happens a lot to my dialtone servers ,but it can be solved by rebooting the servers

Still down after 6 days.

Just voice mail when you call them up.

As a matter of fact, the voice mail box is full and it isn't taking any more messages.

There web site has nothing about the problem listed.

I've already moved and I didn't have many domains on my server. I feel sorry for people that were trying to run a business hosting hundreds of domains

How did you know it would happen?
I'm curious.

because when they were acsdatanet they had a lot of communication problems between host and customers

a lot of network down time

high ping times
network being slow
sometimes being down for hours
people would call and nobody would answer, etc

then port80 "bought" out acsdatanet

but things are still running the same way.

back then i just knew this wasnt going to work out, still isnt.

I'll do much more homework next time.

Yep. My money is important to me. So whenever I choose a host, I always search wht, post about it on here, ask members, etc, get as much info as i can. I don't want to be scammed, or anything like that.

Can't afford to loose money.

I'll go with a company if i see positive thigns about them, being said here, or on the web.

That or, if I have friends who are customers of the host, who can tell me about it, etc.

word of mouth really.

Mine's been down too, although it's off and on - sadly because I couldn't get a DNS change made soon enough, I've lost most all my customers.

Hope you get everything moved!

Ouch! This definitely does not sound good. You might want to move out of there as soon as possible.

Downtime that long is not worth holding on too.
