Hi very strange but i m encountering this problem after i change the hostname of my server from the default ..my proftpd stops responding or working.and also i would like to disable anonymous ftp access to my server.

my server is running proftpd 1.2.4 and Linux 7.3

any suggestions ?

Try restarting proftpd /etc/init.d/xinetd restart

If proftpd is running in Standalone mode it would be

/etc/init.d/proftpd restart

Comment out the anonymous block in your /etc/proftpd.conf file and that will disable anonymous access.
